I received an email from Jaime letting me know of her GREAT shopping trips!! I LOVE hearing how y'all are doing with your trips...really makes it feel like the time I spend searching for deals and coupons is worth it!!
She bought everything below at Albertsons: spent $18.75 and saved $25.07:
Mrs. Baird's bread
2 Sunny Delight
4 1/2 lbs. chicken thighs
4 Pillsbury cinnamon rolls
4 Pillsbury Grands Jr. biscuits
2 Pillsbury Crescent rolls
1 Pillsbury Toaster Strudel
2 Peter Pan peanut butter
2 Bisquick
Mini watermelon
She also went to Target: spent $1.87 and saved $9.21
2 Raid Earth Options Insect Killer
And a GREAT find at HEB: 1 lb. of peaches free when you buy Fresh Express Salad Blend. She found a bag of Fresh Express Salad on quick sale for $0.99, so she was able to get inexpensive salad AND free peaches!!
Amazing job Jaime!! She saved around 60%!!
I'd love to hear how all of you are doing. Some of you have probably been couponing longer than I have, and others are just beginning. Keep in mind that any amount of savings is a start...I'd love for you to share your shopping trips!! Email me some of your shopping trips...you don't have to include a picture if you don't want, would love to hear how much you spent and saved!!

There's a great high value coupon available for $1.00 off one box of Wheat Thins. This coupon was available several weeks ago, but has been reset...which means that if you printed it before, you'll be able to print it again. Go here to print this coupon...you'll need to scroll down the page, and you should find it on the left side of the screen.
Thanks Addicted to Saving!
FREE Chips and Queso at Chili's
This is a GREAT freebie. If you sign up for Chili's Email Club, you will receive a coupon for a FREE Chips and Skillet Queso with the purchase of one entree. Go here to sign up!
We used to go out to eat at Chili's with our best friends every Sunday after church. Since they've moved, we've only been there once or twice...it's full of memories for our kids. They' can't eat there without talking about sweet Karalee and Katelyn!! I might be able to convince them to go for FREE chips and queso though! :)
Clothes Shopping...UGH!!
I have not purchased new clothes for my boys in the LONGEST time. (Not including school uniforms) I usually like to buy their clothes for the next year at the end of the season sales from the current year. I decided to run to the mall to look for some good deals today, and I was SO disappointed. I don't know if it is our local mall, or if the current styles are just not what I like. It seems like almost all the shirts I saw on clearance had large skulls and crossbones on them, or sayings that I don't want my boys to be wearing..."I'm with stupid," "I'm not listening to you," etc. I just think those shirts are really disrespectful. The denim shorts that I found had holes/rips in them, or they already looked dirty. My boys get holes in their clothes on their own, I don't need to buy them with holes already in them! (Okay, I think I am sounding like my mom! :)
My boys REALLY are in need of new clothes. I didn't buy them any new summer clothes last year. It has been two years since they've had new clothes, and there is no way that they will be able to fit in their summer clothes next year. I refuse to pay full price for clothes...I couldn't believe some of the prices...$40.00 for a T-shirt for kids, NO WAY!!
Do any of you have a hard time finding clothes for your boys? I say boys, because it seems like there were 2 to 3 times as many clothes for girls to choose from.
I might just need to convince my husband that we need to go out of town to find some good deals...don't know if he would agree to that. Spending money on gas and a day trip would kind of negate any good deals we found on clothes, right?
For those of you who live in San Angelo, where is the best place to find clothes for boys? I walked through the mall...Children's Place, Sears, JC Penney, Dillards, and I also went to Ross. I'll probably check Wal-Mart and Target next week. So far I've been really disappointed. Do you think a shopping road trip is in order?

CVS Trip (August 20)
I have not been shopping at CVS in the longest time!! We had such a large stockpile of toiletries, that I haven't even been looking at the CVS or Walgreens ads lately. Over the summer I gave away a large portion of our stockpile to friends and family, so I thought it might be a good idea to get back into the drug stores!! I still have at least a 6 month supply of most of our toiletries, but I have to admit that I miss going in to Walgreens and CVS and coming out with bags of stuff for under a dollar. Over the summer months, all of my Extra Care Bucks and Register Rewards expired, so I am starting off with $0.00 to help lower my out of pocket expenses.
I ran to CVS this afternoon and bought everything pictured below. I spent...
$1.96 and received $10.00 in Extra Care Bucks for my next trip!! If I had Extra Care Bucks to start out with, then I would have been able to buy more items for less money, but I had to start fresh!
The good news is that if you don't have any Extra Care Bucks to start with, you might be able to do the same deals that I did today.
I only did one transaction today. Here's how I did it:
I received an email from CVS with a coupon for $5.00 off a $25.00 purchase. Remember that with these coupons, you must reach $25.00 BEFORE coupons and sales tax. When I got to CVS, I scanned my card under the red kiosk and a coupon for $5.00 off a $15.00 purchase printed out. I asked the manager if I could use both coupons at the same time. She said as long as I handed the $5.00 off $25.00 coupon first, followed by the $5.00 off $15.00 coupon I could use them. (Note, when I went to check out the computer only accepted one of the coupons...the manager had to be called and she manually entered the second coupon.)
Gillette ProFusion Razor $9.99 (received $5.00 ECB)
-used coupon for $4.00 off Gillette ProFusion Razor (found in 8/1 Proctor and Gamble insert)
Final Price: $5.99
Dawn Hand Renewal Detergent $0.97
-used coupon for $1.00 off (found in HomeMade Simple Coupon Book)
Final Price: FREE (plus $0.03 overage)
2 Glide Dental Floss $3.49 each (received $2.50 ECB for each one I bought...total $5.00 ECB)
-used 2 coupons for $1.00 off any Glide Dental Floss (found in 8/1 Proctor and Gamble insert, also found in package of toothpaste)
Final Price: $4.98
2 Right Guard Total Defense Deodorant $4.49 each (on sale Buy one Get one FREE)
-used coupon for Buy one Right Guard get one FREE (found in 7/25 RedPlum insert)
Final Price: TWO for FREE (Note, this is the FIRST time that CVS has allowed me to use a Buy one Get one FREE coupon with a Buy one Get one FREE sale. The coupon went through with no beeps, so I'm not sure if our local store has a new policy or I had a GREAT cashier.)
2 Right Guard Total Defense Deodorant $3.29 each (on sale Buy one Get one FREE)
-used coupon for $3.00 off two (found here)
Final Price: $0.29
3 individual bags of M&Ms $0.89 each (on sale Buy two Get one FREE)
-used coupon for $1.00 off three M&Ms (I can't remember what insert I found this coupon)
-ALSO used CVS coupon for $0.50 off two individual bags of M&Ms or Snickers (printed from the CVS red kiosk in store)
Final Price: $0.28
PLUS I had $10.00 deducted from my CVS coupons mentioned above.
Final Price: $1.96 PLUS I received $10.00 in Extra Care Bucks. I saved $38.98 with in store promotions, sales, and coupons!!
I can't wait to roll my Extra Care Bucks next week!!
If you are interested in any of the above deals, please remember that these sale prices are good through Saturday.

GREAT New Coupons
There are several GREAT new coupons that you will want to print.
$1.00 off two Kraft Singles
$1.00 off two Capri Sun Juice Drinks
$1.00 off two Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Shaved Meats
$0.50 off one Miracle Whip or Kraft Mayo
All of these coupons are available here.
Albertsons has Capri Sun on sale for $1.69 this week.
-with coupon $2.38 for two (or $1.19 each)
That's a pretty great price...about $0.11 a drink!
I keep thinking that HEB is going to have a their lunch meat/Kraft cheese meal deal pretty soon. If they do, these coupons will work GREAT with that meal deal!! The coupons I printed do not expire until the beginning of October, so I am planning on holding onto them and waiting for HEB to offer the meal deal! They usually offer it right around the time school starts, so I'm sure we'll be seeing it soon.
Miracle Whip and Kraft Mayo are priced at $3.00 at Albertsons this week.
-with the $0.50 coupon (will be doubled) you'll pay $2.00
I'm not sure what these are priced at other stores, so you might find a better deal else where.
I'd encourage you to go ahead and print these coupons off and hold onto them until you find a good sale!! The Capri Sun and Kraft Cheese coupons are pretty rare, so print them while you can!
Thanks Clever Couponing!

First Day of School
Today my two oldest boys went back to school. They had mixed feelings about starting...excited to go and see all of their old friends, but not ready for summer to end. I had a harder time watching them leave today than they did. I know some moms who count the days until summer ends, so they can send their kids off. I am definitely not one of those moms. I love spending time with my boys, and look at the clock a hundred times a day when they are gone to see if it is time to go pick them up yet. :)
Josh 4th grade:
Aaron 3rd grade:
Sweet brothers!! They are seriously the best of friends. As soon as I picked them up from school they started talking about how much they missed each other!

Wal-Mart--New Sale Prices
I have a hard time finding GREAT deals at Wal-Mart. I usually only shop there for items that I don't have coupons for, or to price match produce from another ad. I ran there today to pick up some more fruit...my kids go through fruit so quickly!! While I was there, I noticed a few sale prices that y'all might be interested in.
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts $1.78/lb.
(In my opinion this is a stock up price. Occasionally I will find chicken breast for as low as $1.50/lb., but $1.78/lb. is usually the lowest I see it go. You will be able to find Chicken Breasts (with bone and skin) for as low as $1.00/lb, but that is one thing I refuse to mess with...even my frugal ways have limits! :)
Select Varieties of Campbell's Select Harvest Soup $0.75
(I found these on the soup aisle, but down a bit from the other Campbell's Soups...on a shelf with other marked down products)
-use coupon for $1.00 off Campbell's Select Harvest Soup (found here)
Final Price: FREE
I was only in Wal-Mart for about five minutes, so I didn't have a chance to look through the store for more deals. Let me know if you've spotted some GREAT deals at Wal-Mart lately!

Does any one else have this problem?
I have to say that I do a pretty good job of keeping up with our laundry. I can't stand it when the laundry baskets get full, so I try to do laundry at least every other day. I usually take the weekend off from laundry, so when Monday comes around I have about three loads to do. I do a great job of getting the laundry started, switched over to the dryer, and folded/put away...UNTIL the last load of laundry. Why is it that I always forget it in the dryer, and then the next time I go to do laundry I find it just sitting there waiting for me? This is definitely a pet peeve of mine, but it seems to happen just about every week!! Am I alone in this, or do some of you do the same thing, or something similar?

Brand Loyalty
I remember going to the grocery store with my mom when I was younger and looking at all the colorful boxes of cereal. I would want her to buy the colorful boxes of Fruity Pebbles or any box of cereal that promised a toy inside. More often than not, my mom would steer the shopping cart over to the store brand of cereals and choose from there. As a child, I was convinced that there was something that would taste better about the name brand cereal.
I know many people who have a specific brand of products that they buy, and they never waiver from that. You might go to a certain person's house and know that you will always find Gandy's Milk, Kraft Cheese, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Charmin Toilet Paper, and the list could go on and on. It might be that way at your house. I want to encourage you to branch out a little bit and try new things!!
I've mentioned before that if you want to cut your grocery budget down, you need to use coupons and combine them with sales to stock up on items at rock bottom prices. This usually means that there will be items on sale that might not be a brand that you are familiar with. If you are loyal to only one brand of products, it will be a lot harder for you to start noticing a change in your grocery budget. Yes, you can use coupons on the brands you normally buy, but you will be missing out on trying new things and drastically cutting back your expenses.
I will say that there are a couple of items that our family is loyal to...Philadelphia Cream Cheese (other brands just don't taste near as good) and Blue Bell Ice Cream (I will buy other brands, but nothing is better than Blue Bell!!) Every other item that we purchase is based on price, not brand.
Don't be afraid to branch out and try something new. You'll be able to try new things AND save money at the same time!! Oh, and did you know that a lot of times store brand products have a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the products...so what's there to lose?

New Coupons Available
I try to check coupons.com at least a couple of times every week to see if any new coupons have been released. I just checked and was pleasantly surprised with some of the new coupons. I would encourage you to scroll through the coupons and see if you can use any of them.
Some of my new favorites are:
$0.75 off one Nature's Own Breakfast Bread, Bagels, or English Muffins
$0.50 off one Chipotle Cheddar, Sour Cream and Onion, or BBQ Chex Mix
$0.50 off one Chocolate Chex Mix or Bugles
$0.50 off one Gardetto's Snack Mix
I found all of these coupons using zip code 76904. Go here to view all of the coupons!
Remember that all of the coupons that are valued at $0.50 can be doubled up to $1.00 at Albertsons. I have seen Chex Mix, Bugles, and Gardetto's all go on sale for $1.00 at Albertsons, so if you hang on to these coupons and wait for a sale you might be able to get FREE snacks!! Note...there are no guarantees that these items will go on sale before the coupons expire, but I always try to hang onto this sort of coupon hoping for a sale. If the items don't go on sale before the expiration date and I still want to purchase them, I'll go ahead and use them...but I'd encourage you to at least wait to see if these go on sale!!
Great Shopping Trip!!
My sister-in-law emailed me the above picture of her latest shopping trip. She lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and bought everything above at Kroger.
She bought:
3 Pillsbury Delights Desserts
4 boxes of Toaster Strudels
6 bags of Gardetto's
1 bag of Chex Mix
1 Bag of Bugles
8 cans of Progresso Soup
1 bottle of Sunny D Juice
She only spent $10.15, and saved $43.79!!
Way to go Steph!!
Before coupons/sales I'm sure that the Progresso soup alone would have cost more than $10.00. If you combine coupons with sales you can really get some GREAT deals!
Do any of you have any GREAT trips that you'd like to share as motivation for others. Email them to me, and I'd love to write a post about them...try to include what you spent/saved and what store you shopped at!! Thanks so much, and I really look forward to seeing some of your savings.
Albertsons--$0.50 Kraft Barbecue Sauce
While I was at Albertsons, I found some shopping carts filled with Kraft Barbecue sauce that were on clearance.
The Kraft Barbecue Sauce was clearance priced to $0.50. I am not aware of any coupons that are available right now to make this deal even better, but $0.50 is a pretty GREAT price for BBQ Sauce.
Of course clearance finds will vary from store to store...for those of you in San Angelo, I found these at the Albertsons on College Hills
