FREE Chick-fil-a

Did any of you get FREE Chick-fil-a today? You know that I had everyone in my family dress up and we all ate FREE!! I wanted to take a picture of all my boys dressed up like cows, but for some reason they weren't too thrilled with that idea. :)

Our total would have been almost $30.00 if we hadn't dressed up, but we got it all COMPLETELY FREE!! YEA FOR FREE!! Oh, and we decided to eat at the outdoor seating area and watch the rain. One of the Chic-fil-a employees passed out some stuffed cows to the kids that were eating there. FREE food AND toys, and all we had to do was embarrass ourselves for a few minutes...DEFINITELY worth it! :)

Coupon Overload

When I first started using coupons and learning how to do all the wonderful Register Reward and Extra Care Buck deals it seems like I went to the stores every day...trying to get in on EVERY deal that was available. I was so shocked that you could get multiple products for FREE...and sometimes even make money back when buying products. I'd look through my coupons, search store ads and various coupon sites, make my detailed shopping list and then head out to the stores. It never failed that when I came back from the store I'd read about even more deals that were available, so the next day I'd go back out to do even more deals. I was saving a LOT of money, but was seriously wearing myself (and my 3 year old son) out. (My two oldest boys were in school when I first started getting serious about coupon shopping, so they were spared the endless trips to the stores. :)

I KNOW that I am not the only person who has done this, or might currently be doing this. I have talked to numerous people who make one, sometimes even two, trips to the stores a day. When you are first starting out, it can be so exciting to get all these great deals, but if you try to chase every deal and every freebie that is out there, chances are that you will wear yourselves out.

After coupon shopping for a couple of months, I realized that there will ALWAYS be another sale. It's okay to not get every great deal...there will always be more. If I have to miss out on a few deals to save my sanity that's okay. After all, I will be able to find FREE toothbrushes, toothpaste, and deodorant another time, but my sanity...well, that's a different story! :)

Have any of you been there...chasing sales and deals? Step back, take a break, and remind yourself that there will always be another sale and another deal...it's okay to miss a few!!

Ever had a day where you don't feel like doing much?

It has been rainy and gloomy all day today, and I haven't wanted to do anything at all!! Days like this make me want to curl up on the couch with a good book and read for hours...with three active boys that doesn't seem to happen much, but one can dream, right? :)

I'll blame the lack of new posts today on the weather. :) That, and the fact that I haven't been shopping to find any good deals in days. It is very hard to get motivated to go shopping in the rain with three boys. We were on our last gallon of milk and completely out of fruit, so I stopped at Sam's to grab a couple gallons of milk, some strawberries, and some pretzels that were on sale. No great deals to be had, but I've found that the milk at Sam's is quite a bit cheaper than at other stores...especially when I don't have coupons, register rewards, or extra care bucks to work with. My total for groceries for the month of July is now up to $16.05. I'm overdue for a BIG shopping trip, but am trying to hold off until Monday. I can't stand grocery shopping on the weekend!!

How about all of you? Are you noticing a difference in your grocery budget yet? Have you found any GREAT deals?

Mega Swagbucks Friday!!

Search & Win

Just wanted to remind you that it's Friday, and that means that for those of you who have signed up for Swagbucks that you'll have additional chances to win HIGH VALUE Swagbucks during your searches!! Go ahead and search for the sites you normally go to, and earn bucks to trade in for prizes while you are at it!! Remember it only takes 450 Swagbucks to trade in for a $5.00 Amazon gift card. I've been saving my Amazon gift cards, and I was just searching around Amazon a couple of days ago, and found out that you can actually order gift cards from different stores (Target, Kohls, AMC Movies, Subway, etc.) Once you earn enough Swagbucks you can trade in for different gifts or gift cards...I've been trading in for Amazon gift cards and will be using them to help our Christmas budget!!

So for those of you who are already a part of Swagbucks start searching!! Let me know if you win any big amounts today!! And for those of you who have not joined Swagbucks yet, it is completely free and so easy!! Just sign up for Swagbucks (it's a search engine...like google, yahoo, ask.com, etc). You have a chance to win Swagbucks for every search you do. You don't have to go search for specific things. The easiest way to use it, is to load the Swagbucks toolbar on your homepage. Instead of typing in a web address that you want to go to, just type it into the Swagbucks search box...you'll still go right where you would be going anyway...but you will be given chances to win Swagbucks!! I joined at the end of December, and have won over $100 in Amazon gift cards...LOVE IT!!

If you are interested in signing up, just click on the banner below to get started. Like I said it is completely FREE and you'll receive 30 Swagbucks just for signing up!!

Reminder--FREE Chick-Fil-A Tomorrow!!

Friday, July 9th, Chick-Fil-A is having their Cow Appreciation Day! Come to their store dressed like a cow and you'll receive a COMPLETELY FREE combo meal!! I convinced my husband to do this last year, and you better believe that we'll be there tomorrow as well!!

Don't have a cow costume? Last year I took plain black shirts and taped white spots on them, filled black socks with plastic bags to look like tails, and had my kids hold "Eat Mor Chikin" Signs. The kids had fun making their shirts and signs. It took just a few minutes, and we ALL got FREE meals. My boys have been reminding me about this all week...they mentioned wanting to eat breakfast, lunch, and supper at Chick-Fil-A. I don't think we'll go that far, but we'll definitely grab some FREE Chick-fil-A sometime throughout the day.

Hope to see some of you there!!

Coupon for Libby's Canned Vegetables

There's a high value coupon available at coupons.com right now for $1.00 off three cans of Libby's Vegetables. I had to change the zip code to 63366 to be able to find this coupon, and then clicked on Canned Goods and Soups to find it quickly.

This week Albertsons has an in ad coupon that will make Libby's Vegetables $0.88...this is for the jumbo can (28 to 29 ounces). If you buy three and use the coupon for $1.00 off, you'll pay $1.64...or about $0.55 for each can. I am not sure what the smaller 14.5 oz. cans are priced at. I try to stock up on canned vegetables when I can get them for between $0.20 and $0.30. $0.55 is a little higher, but then again the cans are twice the normal size.

Let me know if you've seen a better deal on Libby's vegetables.

Thanks My Frugal Adventures!

Coupon for Bear Naked Granola

If you "like" Bear Naked on Facebook, you will be able to print a coupon for Buy One Get one FREE. My husband really likes granola cereal, but it seems like it is always the most expensive!! I believe that I've seen these priced around $3.50 at Wal-Mart. With the coupon, you'd be able to get two for that price. Still kind of high, but might be worth it for a high quality cereal. You also might find it on sale!! I might print off this coupon and splurge for my husband!! :) Go here to print this coupon.

Thanks Thrifty and Thriving!

July Grocery Budget

I was just going through my receipts for July, and I realized that I have had an AMAZING first week!!

For the first week of July, I spent $3.93 on groceries and saved $66.24!!

I have not been big grocery shopping all week. This is in part because I have such a large stockpile of foods from previous weeks, but also because 4th of July weekend a lot of my husband's family was in town and my in laws provided meals for everyone Friday through Sunday!!

We are officially out of all fresh fruits and vegetables, so I will be making a run to the store tonight or tomorrow. Those items always seem to be the most expensive.

How have you been doing on your budget for July? I am just amazed at how much couponing has changed our family's budget!! Before I started using coupons, we would get to the end of the month and have hardly any food at all left in our pantry or refrigerator. As soon as pay day would come around, we'd have to restock all of our shelves. Now we have enough for our family and are able to give some of our surplus away!! If you are just starting out, don't give up...you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll be able to shrink your grocery budget AND increase your stockpile!! And for those of you who have been couponing for a while...are you noticing a difference...either your stockpile growing, or your budget being able to stretch farther?

Albertsons Shopping Trip (July 3)

I just realized that I forgot to write a post about my latest Albertsons shopping trip. This is almost a week late, but still wanted to share it. I bought everything pictured below and spent...

$2.94 and saved $22.37!

Some of these sale prices are no longer available, but you should still be able to take advantage of the paper towels and possibly the Crystal Light mixes if you have the correct coupons.

6 rolls of Marcal Paper towels $1.29
-used 6 coupons for $1.00 off Marcal products (found in 6/13 SmartSource insert)
I was so excited to find that Albertsons FINALLY carries these products!!
Final Price: $1.74 (or $0.29 a roll)

3 Crystal Light Mixes on sale for $1.99 (normally priced at $3.79)

-used 3 coupons for $2.00 off Crystal Light (mailed with Crystal Light Samples from Vocalpoint)
Final Price: FREE (Note, at Albertsons if your coupon value exceeds the product price they will need to adjust the coupon down. If your cashier gives you a hard time about this, stick up for yourself...it is 100% allowed. If the cashier will not do it for you ask them to contact a manager for you!!)

2 packages of Hefty Foam Plates (50 ct.) on sale for $0.99 (normally priced at $2.99)
-used coupon for $1.00 off of two Hefty plates (found in 5/16 RedPlum insert)
Final Price: $0.98 (or $0.49 each)

The Marcal Paper towels were not on sale, so you should still be able to take advantage of this deal. The price on the Crystal Light products might still be available, but I am pretty sure that the Hefty prices are no longer available!!

Coupon Preview--Sunday July 11

On Sunday it looks like we can expect to find two inserts in the newspaper...one SmartSource and one RedPlum. Remember that coupons and their values tend to differ based on what region of the country you live in. I have found that newspapers from larger cities tend to have more coupons and coupons with higher values. I would encourage you to always buy at least two newspapers. When stores have Buy one Get one FREE sales, the majority of stores will allow you to use two coupons, so you will double up on your savings. If you have multiple newspapers you will also be able to stock up when you find items on sale!! Here's a list of the coupons you can expect to find. I am excited about the coupon for Buy one Get one FREE Olay Facial Cleansers...if you combine that with the coupon for $1.00 off Olay (from the 7/4 Proctor and Gamble insert) you should be able to get some very inexpensive cleansers!! The coupon for $0.75 off Suave deodorant is also a GREAT coupon...these are often priced right at $1.00...so $0.25 for deodorant!! What other coupons look good to you?

Coupon for Voila Meals

I was just looking at Coupons.com and noticed a new coupon for $1.00 off one Voila Meal. I like keeping one or two of these meals in our freezer, so I can pull them out on those nights when I don't feel like cooking or when we are tempted to go grab fast food. I believe these meals are priced between $3.00 and $4.00, so with coupon you'd be able to feed your family for less than $3.00. Add a salad and some bread, and you can feed a family for less than the cost of one meal at a fast food restaurant! Go here if you are interested in printing this coupon.

P&G Samples

I know that I've posted about signing up for Proctor and Gamble samples and coupons before, but wanted to write another post for those of you who are new to this site, or for those of you who didn't sign up the last time I posted about this. Every few months it seems like Proctor and Gamble has a GREAT list of samples that you can sign up for. The samples and coupons that are currently available are:

Head & Shoulders for Men sample
Pantene sample
Prilosec Sample (You'll have to answer a couple questions to see if you qualify for this one)
Coupon for $3.00 off Tide Stain Release
Coupon for Bounty Paper towels
Coupon for $0.50 off Bounty Quilted Napkins
Coupon for $2.00 off Gillette Fusion ProGlide
Coupon for $1.00 off Cheer
Coupon for $0.75 off Zest Bar Soap or Body Wash

When I have received samples/coupons from Proctor and Gamble in the past, they have come in a nice sized box with generous sized samples. I just requested these samples.

If you are interested in signing up for these, go here to get started. If you have already signed up for P&G Samples in the past, you'll just need to enter your email address and password, otherwise you'll need to register before signing up for these samples/coupons.

Coupon for Jell-O--Possibly Making it FREE!!

There's a GREAT coupon available for $1.00 off two Sugar Free Jell-O products. This is a VERY high value coupon for Jell-O, so it will probably reach it's print limit very quickly. Go here if you are interested in printing this coupon! Since this is a bricks coupon, remember that you should be able to print it out twice. After you print it the first time, hit your back button two or three times...it will say that the webpage is expired, but if you continue to hit the back button it will automatically reprint.

Boxes of Jell-O are priced right around $0.50 at Wal-Mart (and probably most other grocery stores as well), so if you print off two of these coupons, you should be able to get FOUR boxes of FREE (or close to free) Jell-O!!

Thanks Savor the Savings!

FREE Gatti's Pizza

I was looking through the HEB and Albertsons ads for this week, and I came across an advertisement for Gatti's Pizza. They are running a special offer today only (July 7th)...Everyone eats FREE at Gatti's!! I called Gatti's to ask for a few more details about this, and the lady I talked to said that everyone eats COMPLETELY FREE from open to close today...don't have to pay for drinks, salad, pizza, dessert, etc. She said that the only thing you'd need money for was if you wanted to buy tokens. Since Gatti's is usually priced pretty high, we hardly ever go there. I'll be taking the kids there for lunch...probably won't buy any tokens, so we'll eat completely FREE!! Have I mentioned that I LOVE FREE!!

This ad is running in the San Angelo Value Central Flyer. For those of you who live in other cities, you might want to call your local Gatti's to see if they are participating!!

Coupon for Digiorno Pizza And Breadsticks

There's a new coupon available for $1.50 off Digiorno's Pizza and Breadsticks. I believe that these are priced around $5.50 at Wal-Mart. This is a fairly high value coupon for pizza. Go here if you are interested in printing this coupon. (To find it quickly, click on the Food category).

Price Check Your Items

Have you ever been checking out at a grocery store, and you realize that your items are ringing up at the wrong price? This has happened to me numerous times. I used to not even mention it to the cashier...I'd think that I must have read the wrong price, and I didn't want to cause any commotion while checking out. One day I was checking out at Wal-Mart, and the grapes that I was buying were ringing up at almost $5.00 a pound. I didn't say anything because I was too embarrassed, but I was kicking myself all the way home.

Since then I've changed my ways, I will politely tell them that I think the item is ringing up at the wrong price. The cashiers have always been very polite and quick to fix the price mistake. Just the other day I was checking out at Albertsons and the items I purchased were ringing up at the wrong price...I mentioned it to the cashier, and she called someone over to do a price check for me. I was right about the price, so she adjusted the price of the items down AND gave me one of the items FREE. She said that if something rings up wrong at the cash register that it is their policy to give you one of the items FREE and the other items at the correct price. So don't be afraid to speak up when you see something scanning wrong...be an empowered shopper!!

Albertsons--Get Paid $0.05 for Each Reuseable Bag

Did you know that you can get a $0.05 discount for each reuseable shopping bag that you use at Albertsons? You'll also find special offers printed on the bottom of your receipts every so often for FREE Albertsons shopping bags if you call and complete a short survey. These surveys usually take between two to three minutes. After you take the survey, they will give you a special code to write on the bottom of your receipt. You can then take this back into the store and get a FREE shopping bag. Not only is it FREE, but when you use it to shop you'll make money off of it...a VERY great deal!!

Shopping Trip

I ran to Albertsons, Walgreens, and CVS on Friday. I bought everything pictured below, and spent...

$0.99, and saved $54.19!! Oh, and I also received an additional $2.00 Register Reward from Walgreens.

I won't do a breakdown for you since the sales are already over, but still wanted to show you that it can be done!!

I was excited about all the FREE gum, because my husband easily goes through a pack a day. The Dentyne gum was priced at $1.00 at Albertsons, and there are coupons for $1.00 off Dentyne gum found in the 6/13 SmartSource insert. The gum was not an advertised sale price, so it might still be going on...wouldn't hurt to check the price the next time you are there!

Vocalpoint--Free Crystal Light

For those of you who signed up for the FREE Crystal Light Pure Fitness samples a few weeks ago, you should have already received your sample, or should be getting it any day now. (Note...this sample is no longer available). This sample came with three different mixes and also came with three coupons for $2.00 off Crystal Light Pure Fitness mixes. These mixes are priced at $1.97 at Wal-Mart, and are on sale for $1.99 at Albertsons (I checked the price at Albertsons on Saturday). That means that with the coupons you should be able to get three FREE boxes!! A GREAT DEAL, and my kids really like them too!!
I know it's been several days since I've posted any new deals. We had a busy 4th of July weekend...spent time at the lake with a lot of family members that came into town. It was great to get together with family that we haven't seen in several months, and our boys had a blast playing with cousins/aunts/uncles/grandparents. With all the fun that we had, I had little to no time to get on the computer to check out deals. Tomorrow I'll get the Albertsons and HEB ad matchups done for all of you and start searching for new coupons and deals.

Oh, I did make a run to CVS and Albertsons with some family this weekend...one a couponer, and one who hasn't used coupons before...so fun to be able to show people how to really make coupons work and to really start saving money!! Do you remember what it was like the first time you used a coupon to really save big...realizing you could get a product for just a few cents? Share your coupon knowledge with a friend or family member and help them learn how to start saving big as well!!
