A Couple of High Value Coupons

I was just looking through the coupons at coupons.com and came across a couple that I thought you guys might be interested in.

There is a coupon for $0.50 off Stove Top Stuffing Mix. It seems like these go on sale around Thanksgiving (of course), but it seems like last year they also went on sale around Easter. I've seen these go on sale for under a $1.00 at Albertsons, so with doubles we might be able to get these for free. I've also see them go on sale for $0.88 at CVS. I encourage you to print the coupon and watch different ads to see if you come across any great sales.

The other new coupon is for $0.75 off any Smucker's Fruit Spreads. I don't know of any great sales on this right now, but this is definitely a high value coupon for jelly. I'm going to be printing this one off!!

Wal-Mart Updated Coupon Policy

Wal-Mart recently updated their coupon policy...with some GREAT changes for us!! I would really encourage you to print off the new policy (found here) and keep it with your coupons. There have been several occasions when I have been told by cashiers that they would not accept certain coupons from me. When that happens, I pull out the coupon policy to show them what their store policy says about using coupons.

Some of my favorite changes to the policy:

NO limit on coupons per transaction.

If coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase. (This means OVERAGE, and not just overage. If I went in the store and picked up a $1.00 product and I had a $2.00 coupon for it they are supposed to give me the $1.00 difference in cash back...if I didn't have any other purchases that would absorb the $1.00)

Can now use Catalina coupons that print from other stores. This does NOT include Register Rewards...but it does include the catalina coupons we sometimes receive at HEB or Albertsons for a dollar amount off a specific item. Example...I have a $0.75 off Tyson Anytizers that printed for me at HEB (has HEB logo on it), can now use it at Wal-Mart...there is fine print related to this, so be sure to read the new policy.

They will accept competitors' coupons for a specific item for a specific price

What do you think of this new policy? I went to Wal-Mart today and was able to get overage on several items with no problem at all...it was just a few cents here and there, but it helped lower my overall cost.

Price Matching at Wal-Mart

Lowe's usually has several good prices in the ad each week, but I never shop there. Instead, if I find a great price I will take the ad into Wal-Mart and price match it there. This week there are several prices that you might want to take advantage of. Remember that if Lowe's store brand is on sale, Wal-Mart will price match their store brand for the same price.

Lowe's Milk (gallon) $2.50
-Okay, this isn't a really great deal. The cheapest milk at Wal-Mart right now is $2.55 a gallon, but it's worth the 2 seconds to show the cashier the ad to save $0.05 to me. :)

The prices on the following items are ONLY good on the days indicated, and are limited to 1 per person.

Wednesday (March 23) Bar S Meat Bologna (12 oz.) $0.29

Thursday (March 24) Lowe's White Sandwich Bread (24 oz.) $0.09

Friday (March 25) Russet Potatoes (5 lb. bag) $0.49

Saturday (March 26) Lowe's Ice Cream (48 oz.) $0.99

Sunday (March 27) Lowe's Drinking Water (24 pack) $1.77

Monday (March 28) Lowe's Flour Tortillas (10 ct.) $0.29

Tuesday (March 29) Apples (Washington Extra Fancy Red or Golden Delicious) (3 lb. bag) $0.59

I think I'll be taking advantage of the deals on potatoes and apples...$0.59 for a 3 lb. bag of apples...that is an AMAZING deal. I just might have to talk my husband into going with me so he can pick up a bag as well. :)

Of course you can mix and match and get any assortment of items that your family will eat, but I would encourage you to sit down with your coupons and write up several scenarios. If your family goes through these items pretty quickly then now is the time to stock up...I'd rather buy 8 boxes of granola bars now for $0.50 each than wait and spend over $2.00 for just one box next week. Remember the key to saving is to stock up when the item is at a rock bottom price. :)
