The last time this coupon was available, I used it and bought some at Wal-Mart for $0.12...a definite STOCK UP price.

Coupon for $1.00 off Marcal Products

There's another great coupon for $1.00 off any Marcal product. I have not been able to find these products at the stores here...but I've been told that they are available at the commisary...so this one is for all the military families. :) The single rolls of paper towels/toilet paper are usually priced right around $1.00, so you should be able to get some FREE products. Keep in mind that if your family will not use these products, that you could still get them and donate. This coupon can be found here.

Coupon for $2.00 off Dove Deodorant

Coupons.com has released a great, high value coupon for $2.00 off select Dove deodorants...this should easily get you deodorant for around $0.50 if you combine it with a sale. As always, you should print this off now if you are interested...high value coupons seem to reach their print limits quickly. Go here to print this coupon off.
I have been out of the house all day...first to rock babies at our MOPS meeting, and then to help prepare/sell popcorn and pickles at my older boys' school. Now off to straighten up the house before niece and nephew come over for a sleepover. I will try to post some deals a little later tonight, but mommy business always comes first...I'm sure all of you understand. :)

How do you really start saving money?

I've had several people ask me if coupons really make a difference in our budget, and if we are really able to actually save money using them. The answer is of course YES!! I don't think I could ever go back to shopping without coupons...to tell you the truth, it is so hard on me when we really need something and I don't have a coupon for it. Here are a few tips to help you start saving money.

1. Sit down and look at your budget and really figure out what your food budget should be for the week/month. This will vary depending on your family size and your dietary needs. I include all toiletries, cleaning supplies, and medicines in this budget, but do what works best for your family.

2. At the beginning of each week, get that amount of money out in cash. This is a personal preference, but one that has made an incredible impact on our budget. Once this money is gone, I have to wait until the next week to get any more money...it really makes me think twice about buying things and cuts down on the little extras that sometimes end up in your cart.

3. If you are just starting out, sit down and make a list of everything you NEED at the grocery store for the week...try to get these products for the LOWEST price possible. If there is any money left over after getting all your NEEDS, use this money to start stockpiling items that are on sale and that you have coupons for.

I have to say that this step will be the hardest step. When we started out we were already on a tight grocery budget. Some weeks I would only have $3-$5 extra after getting all the items that we absolutely needed. I took this extra money and used it to stock up on items that were dirt cheap...you'd be amazed at how much this little bit will get you if you start combining coupons with sales...$5 at CVS or Walgreens will usually buy several bottles of shampoo or deodorant. If you find the right sale $5 can buy you 4 or 5 boxes of cereal. Find what is on sale that week and STOCK UP!!

I cannot emphasize enough that the way to really see a big difference in your grocery budget is to stock up when things are on sale. I am at a point now that there are very few things that we NEED to buy each week...I have enough of a stockpile now, that I am able to first shop from my pantry and then make my short list for the grocery store...this usually consists of milk, eggs, produce, and bread. All of the money that is left is used to STOCK UP on sale items.

If you are just starting out, step 3 will probably take a few weeks or months, depending on your grocery budget. It took our family about 2 months before I noticed a big difference in our list of needs vs. stock up prices.

4. When you start to notice that your grocery list of needs is cut down, I would suggest going back and reevaluating your grocery budget. You will probably be at a place where you can comfortably cut your grocery budget by 25%-50%. Take that extra money and pay down debt, start saving, and start giving!!

5. I would suggest reevaluating your grocery budget every couple of months...needs might change...more children, kids growing and eating more, etc.

6. Do NOT get frustrated if you don't see a big savings at first...like I said, it took almost 2 months before I noticed a BIG difference. I was able to buy more with our grocery budget, but wasn't at a point where I felt comfortable setting aside less for our grocery budget. If you stick with it and are consistent, you'll be able to do it. Think how wonderful it will feel when you are able to buy more with a grocery budget that is a fraction of what it once was.

7. Have fun and encourage other people to do the same!!

Let me know how you are doing, and if you have any tips of your own feel free to share!!

Target FREE Men's Socks

I mentioned printing off several Target coupons a couple of days ago, and I hope you did because you can get a pair of men's dress socks for FREE!! These socks are priced at $2.50...use the coupon for $3.00 off any Merona men's apparel, and you have yourself some FREE socks.

These high value coupons tend to reach their print limits quickly, so if you are interested in this deal go here to print off the coupon. It should be under the clothing category.

$1.00 Ink Refills

Don't forget about the $1.00 ink cartridge refills at Walgreens TODAY ONLY!! These refills are normally priced at $12.99...so a GREAT deal!! You must use the coupon in the ad to get this deal...if you don't have an ad with you, there are stacks of them at the front of the store. I took a black cartridge and a color cartridge up there this morning. I was told that I could pick it up tomorrow (I think they are planning on having a lot of people bring ink in to be refilled, so I think they are telling everyone to come pick them back up tomorrow). The cashier said the sale price will be good tomorrow...as long as the ink cartridges are dropped of TODAY!!

Albertsons Trip (April 22)

I had a GREAT trip to Albertsons this morning. You know, it's funny how your view of stores changes when you start really learning how coupons work. I used to NEVER shop at Albertsons, I thought it was way over priced and stuck to shopping mostly at Wal-Mart. Since I've learned how to shop with coupons (and since Albertsons has started doubling and tripling coupons), I do the majority of my grocery shopping there. They are so coupon friendly...and the manager and cashiers that I've talked to are so nice!! If you are used to only shopping at one main store, I challenge you to branch out and see how much more you can save at other stores. My trip today might change your mind about shopping at Albertsons. I bought everything pictured below, and spent...

$0.83!! Eighty three cents...woo hoo!! Oh, and I left the store with $4 in Catalina Coupons (coupons good on anything at Albertsons that I can use on my next trip!!)

Here's how I did it (and how you can do it too if you have the right coupons):

3 boxes of Ziploc Storage Bags (regularly priced at $3.39...on sale for $1.00)
-I found a cart full of Ziploc products (the boxes all had Christmas pictures on them), but there was no price on them...I talked to someone in customer service, and she said she'd give them to me for $1.00 each...not sure if these will be out much longer...they may pull them.
-used 3 coupons for $0.40 off any Ziploc product (these were all doubled)
Final Cost: $0.60 (or $0.20 each), and this also triggered a $2.00 Catalina to print at check out

4 boxes of Totino's Pizza Rolls (regularly priced at $1.99...on sale for $1.00)
-used 4 coupons for $0.35 off any Totino's pizza rolls (these were all tripled)
Final Cost: FREE!!

3 bottles of Sun Laundry Detergent (regularly priced at $2.39...on sale for $1.69)
-used 3 coupons for $0.50 off any Sun Laundry Detergent (these were all doubled)
Final Cost: $2.07 (or $0.69 each)

4 Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits (regularly priced at $2.19...on sale for $0.99)

-used 2 coupons for $0.30 off any two Grands! Biscuits (these were both tripled)
Final Cost: $2.16 (or $0.54 each), and this triggered a $2.00 Catalina to print at check out.

4 packages of Mission Flour Tortillas (regularly priced at $1.79...on sale for $1.00)
-used 2 coupons for $1.50 off any two Mission products (these were taped to the Mission tortillas at Albertsons...I also saw some taped to bags of Mission chips)
Final Cost: $1.00 (or $0.25 each)

I also used a $5.00 Register Reward that I had from Walgreens. This scanned with absolutely no beeps...I've found that register rewards are a lot easier to use at Albertsons than the extra care bucks...the cashier just scans it and it automatically deducts the whole amount!!

I paid a total of $0.83...and saved $33.22!! That's a savings of 99%!!! And I still have $4.00 in Catalinas that will help on my next shopping trip.

Before I started using coupons, I would not have thought a second about buying a box of Totino's pizza rolls for $1.00...today I was able to buy several bags of food/household supplies for less than the cost of one box...You can do it too!!

Coupon Preview for April 25

Looks like we should expect one SmartSource and one RedPlum insert in Sunday's newspaper. Keep in mind that coupons and values vary by region, but I've found that the San Antonio newspaper usually matches up pretty closely to the preview list. I think that any big city newspaper would as well...the San Angelo one usually only has a fraction of these coupons, so keep that in mind when you are buying your newspaper on Sunday. If you are planning on getting serious about coupons and saving money, I'd pick up at least 2 newspapers...that way if there are any buy one get one sales, you'll be able to use two coupons and really save big. Remember, all stores here will allow you to use two (except for HEB). Here's the list of the coupons we can expect:

Inexpensive Summer Fun!!

Can you believe that summer is right around the corner? Six more weeks of school and then summer begins!! I am so excited for hot summer days spent at the swimming pool. Here in San Angelo, it gets SO hot in the summer, and some days it is just too hot to even think about heading out to the park to play, so what should we do on those blazing hot days? What about packing your kids up and heading to the movies?

Cinemark offers this great deal every summer. Each Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. they will show a different movie for kids...these aren't new releases, but still movies that kids will enjoy. These movies are rated G or PG. For our family, going to the movies is a VERY rare treat...why is it so expensive now? These Tuesday morning movies are only $1 each, but if you go by the theater in advance, you can buy a summer pass for only $5.00 (or $0.50 per movie). As long as you are able to skip the concessions, you should be able to have a fun, and inexpensive, morning out with the kids.

To find out more about this program head on over here, and to see a list of the movies that are scheduled for San Angelo head on over here.

Thanks A Thrify Mom!

Buy One Get One FREE Lays Kettle Cooked Chips

Become a Facebook fan of Be Snack Ready ,then click on “Free Coupon” and you'll be able to print a coupon for Buy One Get One FREE Lays Kettle Cooked Chips. I printed this off earlier today, and my coupon said that it expired today. I've read on several blogs that this coupon has been reset and that now it doesn't expire until May 15. I can't reprint it, so I'm not sure if the expiration date has really changed, but I thought this was too good a deal to not post. It's hard to get really good deals on chips...but this should get you 2 bags for around $3.00...or $1.50 each.

Swagbucks Code Out

If you have joined Swagbucks, then you should have received a newsletter in your email...It's titled "Make Mom and Your Wallet Happy." Towards the bottom of this newsletter is a clue to help you find a Swagbucks code worth 9 bucks...It is very simple to find (took me about a minute). This code expires tonight at 7:00, so you have a bit of time to find it. Remember, you only need 450 Swagbucks to trade in for a $5 Amazon gift card.

Search & Win

While you are searching, don't forget to go to the Swagbucks homepage to get your 2 or 3 Swagbucks that you can get every day.
- Click on “Ways to Earn” on the top of the page
-Click on “Special Offers”
- Click where it says “View our no obligation offers and WIN Swag Bucks”
-Skip ALL offers...click No, or Skip, or See Next Offer. If you want to sign up for an offer, you certainly can, but I have NEVER signed up for anything, and I have still been very successful at earning Swagbucks.
After anwhere from 1 to 5 pages, you should see a box that says "You've just earned x amount of Swagbucks"

Remember, you can do this EVERY DAY!!

For those of you who have not joined Swagbucks yet, I have to say that it is a GREAT way to earn FREE gifts just by using your computer...completely FREE to join. If you'd like to learn more, go here to read an earlier post I wrote about it.

Great Coupons!!

Coupons.com has been releasing some really GREAT coupons lately. I really think it would be worth your while to head on over there and check it out. You can usually print off two of each coupon. Some of the best coupons that I see are:

Buy One Classico White Pasta Sauce, Get One Classico Red Pasta Sauce Free (these are usually priced around $2 at Wal-Mart...so after coupon, would be about $1 a jar!!

$1.00 off any One bag of Birds Eye Voila (most coupons for this product are for $1 off 2...so this is a great coupon.) I like to have some of these bags in our freezer for those nights when I don't feel like cooking.

$1.00 off of Dibs Bite Size snacks

$1.50 off any TGIF snacks (the coupon doesn't specify what kind, so you can look through the frozen food section, or the chips section)

$1.00 off any Digiorno pizza

$1.00 off any Welch's juice

These high value coupons usually reach their print limit quickly, so if you are at all interested in these coupons I would go ahead and print them off. Go here to see them. If you are having a hard time finding them, enter 90210 in the zip code box (that worked for me!!)

Blizzards--Buy One Get One for $0.25

Just got an email from Dairy Queen about a special offer that they are running this week...buy a Blizzard and get a second for only $0.25!! No coupon required at all. My husband and boys LOVE Blizzards, but it seems like when we take them out for ice cream treats that it ends up costing almost as much as a full meal. This will definitely help with the cost. Below is part of the email that I received from Dairy Queen.

"Hey fans! This year marks the 25th Birthday of the World's Favorite Frozen Treat. We realize that we couldn't have made it this far without your support. So to show our appreciation, we're declaring this Buy One at regular price Get One for 25¢ Blizzard® Treat Week! Stop by any participating DQ from now until Sunday, April 25 and get a Blizzard treat for only 25¢ when you purchase one at the regular price.* The best part about it is that there are no coupons to hand in and no memberships to sign. We simply want to thank you for being the best fans in the world. Now, get to your local DQ and raise your cup, upside down of course, to 25 years of the Blizzard treat!"

Bath and Body Works Coupon

Bath and Body Works has just released a new coupon for $10 off any $30 purchase. Go here if you are interested in printing this coupon.
With Mother's Day and buying end of the school year presents for teachers, I'm thinking that this coupon might be good to have on hand for the next time you are at the mall.

Thanks Couponing to Disney!!

Target Coupons

It looks like the Target coupon for $5 off any Merona handbag is gone...the coupon must have reached it's print limit. Hope some of you were able to print it off before the limit was reached. That being said, I wanted to let you know that there are several other Target coupons that you might want to go ahead and print, because I'm thinking that they will probably reach their print limit soon as well.

All of these coupons can be found here:

$2.00 off any Merona women's hosiery item (I've seen Merona socks go on clearance for less than $2.00, so you might be able to get a pair of FREE socks.)

$3.00 off any Merona men's apparel item (Look through the clearance racks...men's shirts will often go on clearance for less than $5...so you should find some inexpensive, or possibly FREE, shirts)

$2.00 off any Merona women's tops (Again, look through the clearance racks...you should be able to find some fairly inexpensive things with this coupon)

Remember, you should be able to print off each of these coupons twice.

Albertsons Trip (April 19)

It wasn't a great coupon trip to Albertsons today, but I REALLY needed some more meat. I stocked up on a lot of meat in December, and have been waiting for some good sales to stock back up since then. I've been buying a little bit here and there, but wanted to find a good sale to fill my freezer back up. I bought everything pictured below, and spent...

$28.97 and saved $47.50.

I bought:

10 1.20 lb. containers of Ground Turkey (regularly priced at $2.79 each, on sale for $1.00 each)
Final Cost: $10.00 ($0.83/lb.)

4 lbs. of ground beef (regularly priced at $2.49/lb., on quick sale for $1.03/lb.)
Final Cost: $4.15

4 lbs. of pork chops (regularly priced at $1.99/lb., on quick sale for $1.20/lb.)
Final Cost: $4.80

2 boxes of Green Giant Rice and Broccoli (regularly priced at $2.19, on sale for $1)
-used 2 coupons for $0.50 off Green Giant Frozen Vegetables (found here)
-These coupons were doubled.
Final Cost: FREE

4 bags of Nabisco Snak Saks cookies: (regularly priced at $2.59, on sale for $1)
-used 2 coupons for $1.00 off 2 Nabisco cookies (found here)
Final Cost: $2.00 (or $0.50 each)

2 Fresh Express Bagged Salad (regularly priced at $1.99, on sale for $1)
Final Cost: $2.00
(I know the bagged salads/vegetables are more expensive...but sometimes the convenience is worth it to me. :)

1.82 lbs. of zucchini (regularly priced at $1.99/lb., on sale for $1.00/lb.)
Final Cost: $1.82

3.15 lbs. of Jazz Apples (on sale for $0.99/lb.)
Final Cost: $3.12

4 Packs of Ivory Bar Soap (3 pack) (regularly priced at $1.79, on sale for $1.00)
-used 4 coupons for $0.25 off any Ivory 3 pack or larger (found in newspaper)
-these were all tripled
Final Cost: $1.00 (or $0.25 each)

Final Cost for the entire trip was $28.97, and I saved $47.50. Like I said, it wasn't the greatest coupon trip, but I REALLY needed some more meat and some produce...and I saved 62%!!

Target Trip (April 19)

I read about this deal on Hip 2 Save, but I wanted to check it out for myself before I wrote about it. A lot of times different sites will have GREAT posts about different clearance deals, but our Target here won't have half of them. I decided to run there this morning to see if our store actually had the same clearance deals that she posted about. I bought everything below, and spent...

$0.00...everything was absolutely FREE!!!

2 Merona Handbags regularly priced $10.00...on clearance for $5.00
-used 2 coupons for $5.00 off any Merona Handbag (found here)
Final Cost: FREE

2 Motrin PM (20 ct.) $3.99
-used 2 coupons for $3 off Motrin (found in yesterday's newspaper)
-used 2 Target coupons for $1 off Motrin (found here)
Final Cost: FREE

There was a whole rack of the bags when I was there, but if you decide to use the coupon, you MUST make sure that you pick up the MERONA brand. I think these will be cute for the summer time...but also would make cute gift bags for little girls, fill it with all sorts of things girls love...and they'll never know the bag was absolutely FREE!!

A Great Walgreens Deal for Potty Training

I was so excited when my boys were ready to start potty training; I saw days ahead where I wouldn't have to buy diapers and could save that extra money. The first time I went to buy Pull Ups for my oldest, I was shocked at how expensive they were...we only used them when we were leaving the house, because we couldn't afford to use them all the time. Of course, this made for a lot of nasty clean ups at our house. :) I think I found a way to get some really inexpensive Pull Ups at Walgreens this week. You'll have to do two separate transactions to get this deal.

Transaction #1:
Nature's Bounty Vitamin D $5.00
-use coupon for $2.00 off found here
Final Cost: Pay $3.00 and receive a $5.00 Register Reward

Transaction #2:
Pull-Ups $8.99
-use coupon for $1.50 off Pull Ups (found in yesterday's newspaper)
-use Walgreens coupon for $2.00 off (found in Walgreens April coupon book)
You will have to buy a small filler item in order to use the Register Reward that you earned in Transaction #1...so look for something inexpensive...
Black Forest Gummy Candy $0.39
-use $5.00 Register Reward from Transaction #1
Final Cost: $0.88

Your total for both transactions should be around $3.88 (plus tax). I thought that was a pretty good deal, considering Pull-Ups are usually priced around $10!!

Another CVS Deal

I don't know how I missed this deal when I was writing about this week's CVS deals. It's a lot harder for me to match up the ads with coupons when I don't have the actual paper copy right in front of me. This morning, I was sitting down to eat a bowl of cereal and decided to flip through the ad to see if there are any deals that I'll be doing this week, and I came across this deal...

Milk (one gallon) $2.99 (limit 2)
-receive a $3.00 ECB when you buy 1

You can do this deal twice...so if you break it up into two different transactions you'll pay $2.99 for 2 gallons of milk and still leave the store with a $3 ECB!! This is definitely a GREAT deal for those of us with kids who go through milk quickly!!
