Okay, I am now off to start packing for our night at the lake...it's just one night, but it seems like with a family of five it still takes a while to pack all the clothes, toiletries, and food that we will need. (Not to mention swimming gear...suits, floaties, sunscreen, towels, bug spray, etc.)

It's the End of the Month, so Print Those Coupons!!

Just a reminder that it is the end of the month, and that means that a lot of the coupons that are available on online coupon sites will be replaced at the first of June. If there are coupons that you think you'll use on those sites, you should go ahead and print them now. There have been a TON of high value diaper and diaper wipes coupons this month, so if you haven't printed those off yet, I would encourage you to do so!! Coupons will typically reset at the first of each month. You might see some of the same coupons that are there now, but they will most likely have reset. That means that if you print them now and they reset, you'll be able to print them AGAIN once they reset!

I ran to Target this morning to see if they had any good clearance deals. I bought everything pictured below, and spent...

I think that's a pretty good deal, but I also have $6.12 in Target gift cards, AND I will be submitting for the $10.00 Listerine Rebate that I mentioned in an earlier post...so once you add the gift cards and the rebate in, I am being paid $11.68 to take all items pictured above home!! Proud Mom Moment

I'm not going to have much time to add new posts today. We spent the morning up at my boys' school attending their awards ceremony. I have to take a moment to brag on my two oldest children. They both received awards for earning straight A's all year long!! So proud of them. They are both such GREAT kids, and just want all of you (even if you don't know me) to know that I have some AMAZING kids!! :) Okay, I just had to share. :)

We will be heading out to the lake a little later this afternoon to kick start our summer. We'll be spending the night and probably a good part of tomorrow out there, so want you to know that I haven't forgotten about the blog...but family time is always a priority!! Wanted to let all of you know that there will be NO coupon inserts in this Sunday's newspaper. For those of you who only buy the Sunday paper for the coupons, you'll probably want to skip this Sunday. If a national holiday falls on a Monday, there are usually no coupons in the previous Sunday's newspaper...not sure why this is, but just a heads up for all of you!!

We are supposed to be getting three inserts (SmartSource, RedPlum, Proctor and Gamble) in the following Sunday's paper (June 6), so you might want to save the money you would have spent on newspapers this Sunday, and buy a few extra copies next week!

I'll try to remember to post a reminder about there being no coupon inserts on Saturday, but sometimes my weekends get kind of crazy, so wanted to give you a heads up today!

There are many different ways to get FREE samples online. Almost every day there are new offers coming out for FREE samples. One of my favorite sites that I have joined is Vocalpoint. Once you sign up to be a member of Vocalpoint (absolutely free), you will begin receiving samples and coupons. These samples are usually quite generous. I have received a FULL SIZE bottle of Pantene shampoo, along with high value coupons, coupons to try products for FREE, high value coupons to keep and others to share with friends. They regularly send out wonderful samples and coupons. Right now they have FREE Crystal Light Samples.
If you are interested in joining Vocalpoint, go here to get started. A lot of times the samples and coupons that they send out are for new products that are just hitting the market. They send out these products for people to try, and then request that you go to their webpage and give them feedback. Usually this is a very short survey you can fill out to grade the product. I think it is definitely worth doing for all the fun coupons and samples that you'll receive after signing up !

Time to get the boys and myself ready for church. They are having an AWANA Appreciation Dinner for all the AWANA workers. That means that I don't have to cook OR clean up...YEA!!

Contacting Companies

One GREAT way to get high value coupons is to contact companies and give them feedback on their products. The majority of companies have contact information on their websites; all you have to do is click on that and send off a quick email with your comments. It takes around five minutes of your time, and can result in some high value coupons!!

I thought it might be a good idea for me to start highlighting some companies that you can contact a few times a week, and we can see if we start getting some coupons in the mail (along with all those free samples :) Let me start out by saying that I have had some companies send me coupons for FREE products or VERY high value coupons. Other times I don't ever hear back from companies, or they might send me a coupon for $0.25 to $0.50 off. I don't know what sort of response you will get from these companies, but I think that the few minutes it takes to send a quick comment will result in some GREAT coupons!!

The most important thing to note when contacting these companies is to BE HONEST and BE POLITE!! Do y'all remember the news story several years ago where the Wendy's customer claimed to find a finger in her chili? I don't think any of you would try to make false claims about these companies and their products, but I just want to remind you that HONESTY is very important!!

If you like a product you might send a quick email that says something like this:

My family and I really enjoy eating (fill in your product). It is so wonderful to be able to serve my family something that is so delicious and easy to prepare. We look forward to trying more of your products!! Thanks so much for such high quality products!

If you dislike a product, you might send a quick email that says something like this:

I recently tried (fill in product) for the first time. My family did not enjoy this product very much. My children complained that it left a strange after taste in their mouths, and I had to agree with them. Thank you for taking the time to read my comments about your product.

If you have never tried a product, you might send a quick email that says something like this:

I have seen several commercials for (fill in product). The commercials make this product look so delicious; I am excited about trying it for myself in the near future.

As you can tell, the comments are pretty straightforward and really take no time at all to send.

Albertsons Trip (May 25)

I made a quick trip to Albertsons today to buy some cereal. I got there and realized that I had pulled most of my cereal coupons out of my binder to double check them and forgot to put them back in, so I was only able to buy four boxes. I bought everything pictured below and only spent...



$1.92!!

I won't go into a detailed list of all the coupons that I used because today is the final day of the sale, but will give you a quick overview of what I bought

4 boxes of cereal ($1.50 a box when you buy four boxes)

This was not an advertised sale. I just happened to be walking by the yogurt section and saw a huge display of them for $0.99 (they are normally $2.39 at Albertsons).

A lot of the coupons I used made the products FREE, and I also used a $3.00 Register Reward to help lower the cost even further.

I ended up spending $1.92 and after in store sales and coupons I saved $40.03. That's a savings of over 95%!!

I have been out of the house most of the day, so I haven't been able to post anything today. I am in the process of making supper, but will try to sit down at the computer a little later tonight to post a few things. My goal is to get the Albertsons and HEB ad/coupon match ups done tonight so that you will be able to get your coupons in order for the sales that begin tomorrow. Coupon for Libby's Vegetables

I found a coupon for $1.00 off three cans of Libby's Vegetables. This is a pretty high value coupon for canned vegetables. Most coupons that I've found for canned vegetables will be for $1.00 off five, or $1.00 off eight. I printed this coupon off and will be saving it for a sale. (Mine doesn't expire until the July 24, so plenty of time to find a good sale).

HEB Update

Just wanted to let all of you know that I went up to HEB this morning to have a meeting with the supervisor and some of the managers. I met with some of the managers several days ago and left not feeling like I had any of my questions answered. One of my readers suggested that it might be a good idea to contact someone at a higher level of HEB, so I sent an email off to their corporate office. About 24 hours later, i received a call from our local HEB office asking to meet with me.
I have to say that the thought of meeting with them had me feeling pretty nervous, but once I started talking about coupons, the nervousness left...I guess when you really know what you are talking about it helps you be able to speak up for yourself (and all other coupon shoppers out there. :)
We did not get all my coupon questions resolved today, but I definitely left feeling like I had been heard and that they were going to look into questions that they did not have answers to...They told me that they would call me when they found out the answers to my questions.

Here's some of what we talked about (Most of these questions were taken from emails/comments/questions that I've received from readers)

Internet Coupons that do not scan...This is the best...They will now manually enter internet coupons that do not scan properly!! WOO HOO!! They will not accept internet coupons for FREE items, but if the computer will not ring up the coupon, the cashier can now manually enter it. I could not find this information on their website yet, but they did say that it is now in effect. If you have an issue with a cashier not entering in your coupons, ask to speak to a manager/supervisor.

One of the managers mentioned to me a couple of times that they needed to give their cashiers a little more knowledge about the store's coupon policy, so hopefully we won't run into any cashiers who refuse to accept coupons.

If a coupon exceeds the value of a product, the computer will automatically adjust the price of the coupon down...you'll be able to get a product FREE but no overage.

HEB will NOT price match competitor ads.

If an HEB coupon (yellow) has an M in the box on the lower left side of the coupon, that means it is a manufacturer's coupon and can NOT be combined with an additional manufacturer's coupon, if it has an S in it, this stands for a store coupon and CAN be combined with a manufacturer's coupon. I was told that HEB does not issue many "S" coupons, but you can always be on the lookout for those.

There are no limits to the amount of coupons you can use per day.

If you have a problem with bad produce/meats/products/etc. HEB would like you to bring your receipt AND the product up to the store...if you don't have your receipt, still bring the product up to the store. They will do their best to make things right...issue you new products, store credit, etc.

Things they are still working on finding the answers to:

-Accepting Register Rewards
I showed them a Register Reward and explained that it is a manufacturer's coupon that they should get reimbursed for...they copied one of my register rewards and told me they would contact someone to try to find answers to this.

-Accepting Military Store Coupons
Again, I showed them some of these coupons...they are clearly manufacturer's coupons. They said they would look into this. Evidently, some manufacturer's have deals with specific stores to reimburse them for products, so they wanted to know if that was the case with these coupons. If they start accepting those coupons, it will be wonderful for all of the military families in town!!

-Using a B1G1 FREE coupon with an additional $ off coupon
At first they told me they could not do that because that would be doubling up on coupons. I explained that they consider their yellow in store coupons to be manufacturer's coupons and they allow you to use a dollar off coupon for the item you are purchasing with those, so I didn't see what the difference was to use another manufacturer's B1G1 coupon with a dollar off coupon (only difference I could see was that HEB was printing the B1G1 coupon). They said that made sense and that they would be looking into that as well.

All in all today was a very good trip. All of the people I spoke with were very friendly and seemed to genuinely want to help. I think they understand the benefits of shopping with coupons and want to make it as easy on their customers as possible.

The next time you are at HEB I really encourage you to tell a manager or your cashier how much you appreciate them for taking the time to make couponing easier at their store. The managers could have easily ignored my comments and questions, but instead they took the time to sit down with me and try to understand where I was coming from and try to answer some of my questions. You know sometimes you can talk to people and it's like they aren't even listening...they are thinking of a comeback to prove their point and not listening to yours...I was kind of expecting that experience today, but I have to say that it was nothing like that. They genuinely seemed like they wanted to help and would do what they could to find the answers to our couponing questions.

I really think that if all of us coupon shoppers make an effort to tell them thank you and shop with a smile on our faces that it will make them want to make things easier on us!!

Coupons in Parade Magazine

Don't forget to check the Parade magazine that comes in the Sunday paper for coupons each week. Coupons...3 lbs. of Coupon Inserts Mailed to You!!

I've talked to several people who have mentioned that they are not getting the expected coupon inserts in the Sunday paper. The San Angelo paper might have both SmartSource and RedPlum inserts, but that there are not the amount of coupons that are in the coupon preview. Several people have told me that they buy the San Antonio paper, but that the last several weeks there has been no RedPlum insert in it. I was surprised to hear about this because I no longer buy the Sunday newspaper. Yes, I still get the wonderful coupon inserts from the paper, but I don't buy a Sundy paper. This means that I don't have to make a stop on Sundays for paper, throw out/recycle all the extra newspapers, or have to sort through the newspapers at the store to see if the inserts are even in there.

How do I still get coupon inserts?

I have coupon inserts mailed to me by a company called American Consumer Services. They mail me 3 lbs. of coupon inserts...no newspapers, no filler ads, just the coupon inserts. The inserts come directly to my mailbox. They are from big city newspapers, and I've found that there are more coupons in the inserts and that they are higher in value than the ones that were in the newspapers that I was buying. I feel good about it too, because I am no longer wasting all those newspapers that I was buying and just throwing out or recycling.

How many inserts are in a 3 lb. package? Usually between 30 to 40 inserts. No, these are not all different inserts...there are duplicats of many of the inserts (which I LOVE because that means when you find a coupon that works great with a sale or that will get you an item for FREE you can really STOCK UP!!)

Each time this package is shipped it costs $33.00...that might sound like a lot, but I figured that I get inserts from between 15 and 18 newspapers. San Antonio newspapers costs $3.00 a piece...15 newspapers would cost $45.00. I also know that I will EASILY make that money back on just one trip to the grocery store. You can choose to get coupons mailed to you once a month...or more frequently. I have them mailed to my house every two weeks. I cannot emphasize enough how much I LOVE receiving my coupons this way. If you think that this sounds like too many coupons for your family to use, think about going in with a friend...there should be plenty of coupons to split with a friend. One of the keys to saving big with coupons is being able to stock up when items are at rock bottom prices, that is the main reason that I LOVE having multiple inserts.

I contacted Mr. Daniels (the owner of American Consumer Services) and asked him if it was okay for me to write about his company. He gets a limited amount of inserts each week, so I wanted to make sure that if I wrote about it and if you guys were interested in it, that he would have enough coupon inserts for you guys to order from him. He told me that would be okay...if you contact him about this just let him know that you heard about it from Lucrecia Wingfield's blog.

This is a smaller company, and he does not have a website. You can contact him at 1-866-790-5088 or email him at americanconsumer@comcast.net. If you are interested in doing this, I would encourage you to call because he will need your debit/credit card information (and personally I feel a whole lot safer giving that information on the phone rather than through an email).

This was emailed to me directly from Mr. Daniels to explain the coupon inserts a little more clearly:

"You'll get a variety of SmartSource, RedPlum and P&G inserts from the Sunday newspapers of the last 4 to 6 weeks. Use the coupons at any supermarket in the U.S. to stretch your dollars and make them work harder. Most people get an order of AMERICAN SUPERSHOPPER GOLD once a month, but we can send you an order every 2 or 3 weeks, if you prefer. We charge your credit card on Friday and the scheduled orders ship on the following Thursday. Coupon packages ship all month long, not at just the beginning or end of the month. You will get the latest coupon inserts from the last Sunday as well as a variety of inserts from the previous weeks. We remove the junk pages to compact the inserts so more fit in the package. We also go through every insert to ensure that there are no short-dated or expired coupons. If there are any, we add additional inserts to the package at no cost to you."

Hope some of you take advantage of this offer...make sure to tell him that you heard about this on Lucrecia Wingfield's blog, so you can be sure to get in on his mailing list. Oh, and this is not something you have to sign a contract to join...try it once, and if you aren't satisfied call and cancel. I signed up to have it delivered once a month, and as soon as I received my first shipment I emailed him to ask if I could get it delivered every two weeks!
