Walgreens--Changes in Coupon Policy

I stopped in at Walgreens (across from HEB) today, and it seems like there are several changes in regards to coupons/Register Rewards that I thought you should be aware of.

Please note that this concerns the Walgreens in San Angelo, TX. I know that many Walgreens in other cities/states are not changing their policies. I am not sure if different store managers are allowed to tweak the coupon policies as they see fit, but as customers, we always need to do our part to follow the policies at the stores we shop at. Also, please be advised that things can change at a moment's notice. It seems what is accepted one day, may not be accepted the next day. Always talk to your cashiers/managers so you can be up to date on any changes that have occurred.

First of all:
Walgreens is AGAIN no longer accepting manufacturer's coupons with the coupons in the monthly Walgreens coupon book. They are now considering these to be manufacturer's coupons, so they will NOT stack them. This is not the case in the majority of Walgreens, but something that the manager on duty told me is our local store's policy. They will continue to stack manufacturer's coupons with the in ad weekly coupons, but NOT with the monthly coupon book

Secondly:
At Walgreens it has always been the policy that you can't have more manufacturer's coupons than products. This can be an issue since Register Rewards are manufacturer's coupons and count in your coupon total. It used to be the case that if you purchased TWO products and had a coupon for $1.00 off 2 products, you would still be able to use one Register Reward...two coupons, two products. Now they have changed this. If you have one coupon that states $1.00 off 2 products, this coupon will attach to TWO products...if you want to use a Register Reward you will need to get a filler item. You can no longer just count your manufacturer's coupons and Register Rewards and make sure you have an equal number of products in your purchase. You must read the wording on all the coupons. If you have ONE coupon that is for $1.00 off 2...this ONE coupon now counts towards TWO items, not the normal ONE that it would before in the coupon to item ratio.

I know all of this is a little confusing, so please let me know if you have any quesions or need me to clarify.

Again, please remember that this is for the Walgreens in San Angelo (specifically the one across from HEB). You will need to check at the Walgreens that you regularly shop at to see if there have been any changes you need to be made aware of.

Del Monte Canned Vegetables $0.39 a can

You can get a great deal on Del Monte vegetables this week.

Lowe's has Del Monte Canned Vegetables on sale for $0.59 this week, and there is a manufacturer's coupon that can be found in the Albertsons ad that will allow you to get them for $0.39 each.

Buy 10 Del Monte Canned Vegetables $0.59
-use coupon for $2.00 off 10 select Del Monte products (found in Albertsons ad) (Note, this is a manufacturer's coupon. I asked the cashier at Wal-Mart if I could use it. She said that since it was a manufacturer's coupon that there was no issue with me using it)
Final Price: $3.90 for 10 cans...$0.39 each

If you decide to do this deal at Wal-Mart, then you will need to use the Lowe's ad to price match.

Chicken Taco Soup Recipe

I had a request to post the recipe for Chicken Taco Soup. I've had this recipe for a LONG time, and have no idea where I got it. My family really likes it, so it is a go to soup in the fall/winter months.

Chicken Taco Soup:

Ingredients:
1 onion, chopped
1 can pinto beans (15 oz)
1 can black/red beans (15 oz)
1 can whole kernel corn (15 oz) (drained)
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 cup apple juice (You can substitute water if you don't have apple juice)
2 cans Ro-tel diced tomatoes with chilies (10 oz) (My kids aren't fans of spicy foods, so I usually substitute 2 cans of diced tomatoes)
1 package taco seasoning
2 to 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Sour Cream (optional)
Lettuce (optional)
Tomatoes (optional)
Crushed Tortilla Chips (optional)

Directions:
Place the onions, beans, corn, tomato sauce, apple juice and diced tomatoes in a slow cooker. Add taco seasoning and stir to blend. Place chicken breasts on top of soup mixture, just covering them with the liquid. Cook on low heat for 5 hours.

Remove chicken breasts from the soup and use a fork to shred the chicken. Return the chicken back to the soup and continue cooking for 2 hours.

I usually serve the soup with crushed up tortilla chips and then we each top our soup with what we would normally put on our tacos. I've also cooked this using ground beef instead of the chicken...just brown the beef and place it in the crockpot with all the other ingredients.

I love the ease and versatility of serving soups. Feel free to share any soup recipes your family enjoy!

Target--Cheap (Possibly FREE) Sally Hansen Nail Clippers

There are a couple of Sally Hansen Coupons that are available that should make for a GREAT deal on fingernail clippers.

Go here to print a TARGET coupon for $1.00 off Sally Hansen Nail Care or Color (I found this under the Beauty Category)

Go here to print a manufacturer's coupon for $1.00 off any Sally Hansen Beauty Tool Product (I found this using zip code 76904 and clicking on the Personal Care Category)

There are reports that you can find nail clippers for as low as $1.99 at Target. If you can find the same deal, then you will be able to pick up a pair for FREE after stacking the coupons.

Even if you can't find the $1.99 price at your store, I am guessing that you'll still be able to snag a pair of nail clippers for a GREAT price after the coupon stack.

Thanks Totally Target!

Outback Steakhouse--$5.00 off 2 Entrees

How about a coupon for $5.00 off any 2 Entrees at Outback? You'll need to "Like" Outback on Facebook and then connect Outback to your Facebook page. They will then email you the coupon. Go here to get started.

FREE Sample of Tom's of Maine Children's Toothpaste

Go here to request a FREE sample of Tom's of Maine Children's Toothpaste. I enjoy signing up to receive free samples because it gives me the opportunity to try new products and a lot of times free samples come with high value coupons as well.

Meal Planning

It seems like September is just flying by. I can't believe that we are already more than halfway through the month.

Another week has gone, so that means it is time for another weekly meal plan. If you are just starting out, then I really encourage you to sit down and make a meal plan for your family's meals for the week. Take stock of your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer. When you are making your meal plan, use those items that you already have on hand to help lower your grocery bill. After I have made my meal plan, I make a grocery list of all the items we NEED for the week...foods, toiletries, medicines, etc. I then purchase these items at the lowest prices I can find. After I have purchased all the items that I know we are going to NEED for the week, I then take any money that is left over from our weekly grocery budget and stock up on items that are on sale that week.

Weekly Meal Plan:

Thursday (September 22):
Horse Whisperer (FREE Burgers)

Friday (September 23):
Date night

Saturday (September 24):
Eat with in laws

Sunday (September 25):
BLT Sandwiches, Chips, Fruit

Monday (September 26):
Chicken Taco Soup, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Tuesday (September 27):
Lasagna, Steamed Vegetables, Bread

Wednesday (September 28):
Leftovers/Sandwiches

I only include suppers in our meal plan. Breakfasts usually consist of cereal, yogurt, waffles, eggs, toast, etc, and lunches usually consist of sandwiches or leftovers.

My grocery list of NEEDS for the week:

Bread (2 loaves)
Milk (2 gallons)
Sliced Cheese
Eggs
Fresh Produce (Gala Apples $0.88/lb, Grapes $0.99/lb, Cantaloupe $0.97, Oranges $0.88/lb, Bananas $0.48/lb.)

How are you doing with planning your weekly meals? Are you noticing a difference in the items you are NEEDING to purchase each week? What are you planning on stocking up on this week?

Hillshire Farm Coupon

Go here and like Hillshire Farm on Facebook. You'll then be able to print a coupon off for $0.55 off Hillshire Farm lunchmeat. BUT if you decide to email the coupon to only three friends, you'll be able to print a coupon for $1.00 off Hillshire Farm Lunchmeat or Smoked Sausage Links. I decided to email some friends.

We can never have too much lunchmeat. It seems like since school started, we are going through it like crazy!

FREE Family Night--Horse Whisperer

For those of you who live in San Angelo, or nearby, you might be interested in this. Tonight, September 22nd, Wild Horse Ministries will be presenting a FREE program.

The Horse Whisperer will begin at 7:00 at the Spur Arena, but you'll want to get there early because they are supposed to be serving a FREE burger meal from 5:50 to 6:50. I've also heard that Riding 4 Him Ministries will be giving FREE horseback rides.

I don't know much about the program, but I've heard that the speaker will take a wild horse and throughout the program he will tame it. Sounds like something my kids will enjoy!

This is a GREAT opportunity to get out and do something fun with your family without having to spend much (if any) money.

Wal-Mart Schick Disposable Razors Update

Just wanted to give a quick update on the high value Schick Disposable Razor coupon that is available to print here.

Schick Disposable Razors were priced as low as $1.97 at our local Wal-Mart on Sherwood Way. I found these with the women's razors. The men's Schick disposable razors were priced quite a bit higher.

I bought two ($3.94) and used one $6.00 off 2 coupon. The cashier accepted the coupon at full value...so $2.06 in overage that was applied to my other purchases.

This is a GREAT time to use that overage to help purchase items that you normally don't have coupons for...milk, produce, meats.

Arby's 3 Classic Roast Beef Sandwiches for $5.00

I have to say that I am liking this deal. Go here, enter your name, and you will be able to print a coupon that will let you get 3 Classic Roast Beef Sandwiches for $5.00 at Arby's. This coupon is valid through September 24th.

The next few nights are going to be busy for our family, so I think this might be a great option for supper one night. The coupon limits you to one coupon per customer...I'm thinking of printing one off in my name and my husband's name. We should be able to get 6 sandwiches for $10.00, definitely cheaper than a normal trip to the drive through for a family of five.

HEB--Double Dip Deal

I just finished the HEB ad matchup and it looks like a couple of the deals overlap...which means bigger savings for us!

Do you remember the coupon I mentioned yesterday for $0.30 off any one Haribo product? If you haven't printed it yet, then you'll want to go here to print it.
In this week's Albertsons' ad, it shows Haribo Gummi Candy on sale for just $0.88. After the $0.30 coupon is tripled, you'll be able to walk out of Albertsons with FREE candy!
I found the coupon using zip code 76904 and clicking on the Foods Category.

Managing His Money Facebook Page

I have to admit that I have a terrible time using computers. It seems like if something can go wrong, it will go wrong when I am using it. :)

That being said, I have been asked by several people if this blog has a Facebook page that will allow people to be updated every time there is a new post.

I decided to sit down last night and try to start one. What would probably take a normal person a few minutes took me forever...but I think I might have figured it out.

If you want to "Like" Managing His Money on Facebook, you should be able to go here to do that.

Please bear with me while I am figuring all of this out...and if you have any hints/advice I would love any help I can get.

My goal is for the Facebook page to update you to new posts that I do, but I would LOVE if you would also share any deals that you come across while you are out shopping. It is impossible for one person to find all the deals, but if we all work together we should be able to score even more awesome sales!

Thanks so much for bearing with me, and please let me know if the above link works or not.

HOT--$1.50 off ONE Smucker's Fruit Spread

Here's another HOT coupon! Go here and print a coupon for $1.50 off one Smucker's Fruit Spread. This should get you a great deal!

Just a note, it seems like this site is getting slammed, and it is taking forever to load. Don't be surprised if takes a few times for you to get the page to load.

RedPlum's Dash for Deals coupons never last long, so don't wait on this one.

Thanks Hip2Save!

FREE Sample of Disney Gummies Vitamins

Go here to request a FREE Sample of Disney Gummies Vitamins. You will be able to choose between Cars or Princess Vitamins. Sample will arrive in 8 weeks.

Free samples are a great way to try new products, and remember, many times they will come with coupons as well! My kids really enjoy these vitamins, so I'm excited about this one.

HOT Schick Coupon!!

Go here and print a coupon for $6.00 off any 2 Schick Disposable Razors (excluding 2 count). This is an extremely high value coupon and will not last long.

Wal-Mart sells Schick Disposable razors for as low as $1.97 for a 10 pack.

You could pick up two packages and get them both FREE with an additional $2.00 overage to help cover other items on your grocery list.

Note, on the bottom of the coupon it states no cash back if coupon exceeds retail price. Wal-Mart's policy is to give the customer overage, so I am not sure how Wal-Mart will handle this. At the very least, you should be able to pick up razors for FREE!

HIGH VALUE Reach Coupon

There is a VERY high value coupon available right now. Go here to print a coupon for $2.00 off any Reach Brush (excluding Reach Crystal Clean). This should easily get us a FREE toothbrush when combined with the right sale. To find this coupon, you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the green circle that says "click to get $2.00 off."

This coupon probably won't last long, so print now if you are interested.

Thanks Coupon Katarina!

Campbell's Soup--$0.65 a can

There is an in ad coupon in the Walgreens ad this week that makes Campbell's Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken Soup only $0.79.

You can combine this in ad coupon with an additional manufacturer's coupon to get yourself and pretty good deal.

3 Campbell's Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Chicken Soup ($2.37)
-use coupon for $0.40 off 3 Campbell's Condensed Soups (found here) (found using zip code 76904 and clicking on Foods Category)
Final Price: $1.97 for 3 cans (or $0.66 each)

This is the lowest price I have seen on this product in awhile, so I would not be surprised if Walgreens has already sold out of this product. If you go to Walgreens and find that they are out, you can always ask for a rain check or price match at Wal-Mart.

Renu Contact Solution FREE After Rewards Next Week at CVS AND Walgreens

I strongly encourage you to go ahead and print this now. This is going to be a hot deal, so I'm not sure if the coupon will still be available to print when the sale starts. Remember, the key to using coupons is to COMBINE them with a sale to maximize your savings.

Coupon for K-Cups

I am not a coffee drinker, so I don't know much about K-Cups...except that I have several friend who say they LOVE them!

Go here and you'll be able to print off a couple different coupons for K-Cup products.

The coupons that are available are:

$1.50 off one carton of Folgers Gourmet Selections K-Cup Portion Packs

$1.50 off one carton of Millstone K-Cup Portion Packs

These coupons are found on the Target website, but I believe they are both manufacturer's coupons, which means they can be used at stores other than Target. Note, I did not print these coupons off, so if you find these are in fact Target store coupons, please leave a comment below so I can correct this post. Thanks.

Thanks Common Sense with Money!

Wendy's--FREE Burger wyb Small Fries and Small Drink

Go here and Like Wendy's on Facebook. Once you do that, click on the Tour of America tab and scroll down until you see a small orange box that says FREE Dave's Hot 'N Juicy Single. Click on the orange box, and you'll be able to print a coupon for a FREE Hot 'N Juicy Single when you buy small fries and a small drink.

I just printed my coupon, and it expires one month from today. This coupon should get us a full meal for a dollar or two cheaper than a normal combo meal.

Thanks Common Sense with Money!

Stripes--FREE Drink

Go here and like Stripes on Facebook, then click on "It's Go Time," and you'll be able to print a coupon for a FREE Slush Monkey or 32 oz. Fountain Drink.

For some reason, I can't get my computer to print this coupon, so please let me know if you print this and it turns out to be a Buy X get FREE drink. It appears to be a completely FREE product, but I haven't been able to print it to read the fine print on it. Thanks!

Haribo Coupon--Inexpensive Candy!

Who doesn't love Gummy Bears? Go here and you'll be able to print a coupon for $0.30 off any 4 oz. or larger Haribo product. (I found this using zip code 76904 and clicking on the Foods Category).

You have a few options for using this coupon:

Wal-Mart:
Haribo Gummy Bears are normally priced at $0.97, so just $0.67 after coupon.

Albertsons:
Haribo Gummy Bears are occasionally put on sale for $1.00 a bag, so if we find them on sale, then there is the possibility of getting a bag for just $0.10 after coupon is tripled.

Walgreens: (Note, this price does not go into effect until September 25th!)
There is supposed to be an in ad coupon next week that will make Haribo candy $0.69. After combining the in ad coupon with the $0.30 coupon, you'll be able to pick up a bag for $0.39! If you decide to wait and buy this at Walgreens, and you find they are out of stock, you can either ask for a rain check, or price match it at Wal-Mart.

Thanks Addicted to Savings!

Blue Bell Ice Cream Coupon

Go here to print a coupon for $1.00 off any half gallon of Blue Bell Ice Cream.

I have to admit, that Blue Bell is my absolute favorite ice cream...especially the Pecan Pralines and Cream. I think I could eat a whole container in one sitting. :)

CVS--FREE Candy or Drink Coupon

How does FREE candy or a FREE drink sound? Go here and like CVS on Facebook, and then click on the Special Offers Category. (I had to click on "more" to get it to drop down and include the special offers category).

You'll then get to enter your Extra Care Card information and a coupon will be emailed to you for FREE candy or a FREE drink. This offer is good until September 22nd.

Old El Paso Coupon!

I found another coupon for Old El Paso. Go here and you'll be able to print a coupon for $0.50 off any Old El Paso product (excluding refrigerated, frozen, and soup products).

Old El Paso Taco Seasoning is $0.99 at Albertsons, so FREE after coupon doubles.

The last time I was at Albertsons, Old El Paso Refried Beans, Enchilada Sauce, and Taco Shells were on sale for $1.25, so if they are still at that price, only $0.25 after coupon doubles.

You will be able to print this coupon off twice per computer. This is a GREAT coupon to print, and will make for some very inexpensive (possibly FREE) products!
