Walgreens Trip March 28

I just got back from my weekly Walgreens trip. Remember my goal is to spend less than $5 when I go there. I started out this week with no register rewards. I bought everything pictured below, and spent...

$3.16...PLUS I have a $4 register reward to use the next time I go shopping!! I broke my shopping trip up into 2 different transactions. I did this so that I could use register rewards that I earned from my first transaction to help lower the cost of my second transaction.

Transaction #1

1 Dove Conditioner $4.00 (When you purchase this item you will get a $4 register reward)
-minus $1.50 coupon (found in today's San Antonio newspaper)
Total: $2.50

3 bags of Halls cough drops $1.99 each
-minus 3 $1 coupons (found in today's San Antonio newspaper)
-minus a coupon from today's Walgreens ad that makes the cost of each bag of Halls cough drops $0.99
Total: FREE

7 Air Wick Air Freshener Starter Kits $7.99 each
-minus 50% off each one (store promotion)...makes the cost of each one $3.99
-minus 7 $4.00 coupons (found in San Antonio newspaper several weeks ago)
Total: FREE

Total for Transaction #1 $2.60
The only thing I paid for was the Dove Conditioner and tax, and I received a $4 Register Reward!

Transaction #2

1 Dove Conditioner $4.00 (When you purchase this item you will receive a $4 register reward).
-minus $1.50 coupon (found in today's San Antonio newspaper)

3 bags of Halls cough drops $1.99 each
-minus 3 $1 coupons (found in today's San Antonio newspaper)
-minus a coupon from today's Walgreens ad that makes the cost of each bag of Halls cough drops $0.99
Total: FREE

6 Betty Crocker Warm Delights Brownie Bowls $1.00 each
-minus 6 $0.75 coupons (found in today's San Antonio newspaper)
Total: $1.50 (or $0.25 each)

1 Aluminum Foil $1.19
-minus a coupon from today's Walgreens ad that makes aluminum foil $0.59

I also used the $4 register reward that I earned from transaction #1.

Total for Transaction #2: $0.56
PLUS I received another $4 register reward.

I paid $3.16 today, and with in store promotions, coupons, and register rewards I was able to save $92.42.

What can you buy for less than $5.00?

  1. You are so good at this Lucrecia! I am currently building up my coupon stash. How many papers do you buy on Sunday normally?

  2. I normally buy anywhere from 2 to 6, depending on the coupons that will be in the paper. This helps me be able to stockpile items when they are on sale. My boys already eat like grown men, but with your daughter being so young, I'd definitely be picking up at least 2 papers every week. When Walgreens and CVS have buy 1 get 1 sales, they allow you to use a coupon for each item...so if you've bought 2 papers, you'll be able to make the most out of those sales!! I might be giving a coupon class to some ladies in our church's Newlywed class next week (next Tuesday night)...would you like me to talk to Robin Terrell and see if she'd be okay with you coming as well? Let me know!1
