It seems like September is just flying by. I can't believe that we are already more than halfway through the month.
Another week has gone, so that means it is time for another weekly meal plan. If you are just starting out, then I really encourage you to sit down and make a meal plan for your family's meals for the week. Take stock of your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer. When you are making your meal plan, use those items that you already have on hand to help lower your grocery bill. After I have made my meal plan, I make a grocery list of all the items we NEED for the week...foods, toiletries, medicines, etc. I then purchase these items at the lowest prices I can find. After I have purchased all the items that I know we are going to NEED for the week, I then take any money that is left over from our weekly grocery budget and stock up on items that are on sale that week.
Weekly Meal Plan:
Thursday (September 22):
Horse Whisperer (FREE Burgers)
Friday (September 23):
Date night
Saturday (September 24):
Eat with in laws
Sunday (September 25):
BLT Sandwiches, Chips, Fruit
Monday (September 26):
Chicken Taco Soup, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Tuesday (September 27):
Lasagna, Steamed Vegetables, Bread
Wednesday (September 28):
Leftovers/Sandwiches
I only include suppers in our meal plan. Breakfasts usually consist of cereal, yogurt, waffles, eggs, toast, etc, and lunches usually consist of sandwiches or leftovers.
My grocery list of NEEDS for the week:
Bread (2 loaves)
Milk (2 gallons)
Sliced Cheese
Eggs
Fresh Produce (Gala Apples $0.88/lb, Grapes $0.99/lb, Cantaloupe $0.97, Oranges $0.88/lb, Bananas $0.48/lb.)
How are you doing with planning your weekly meals? Are you noticing a difference in the items you are NEEDING to purchase each week? What are you planning on stocking up on this week?

Can you post the recipe for the chicken taco soup please? It sounds great, especially with today's cool breezes!
