Sunday Coupon Preview

There should be two inserts in tomorrow's newspaper...one SmartSource and one RedPlum. Go here if you are interested in seeing a list of the coupons we can expect to find tomorrow. Please keep in mind that coupons and their values vary based on what region of the country you live in and even what newspaper you buy. I've found that newspapers from larger cities tend to have better coupons.

If you are just starting out with coupons, I would encourage you to buy at least two newspapers. When stores run Buy One Get One FREE sales they usually will allow you to use two coupons (one for the product you buy and one for the product you get FREE). If you have multiple copies of coupons you will also be able to stock up and save when stores have good sales!!

Happy Birthday Aaron!!

Today my sweet Aaron turned eight!! So many people have told me to treasure every moment when your kids are young because they grow up so fast. I was watching him today and trying to remember where all the time I went. I can clearly remember when he was just born...trying to keep up with a one year old and a newborn and thinking that I would never survive. Some days it took everything in me just to make it through the days...I'd get to the end of the day and fall into bed completely exhausted and overwhelmed. I look back and wish I could tell myself to take a deep breath and just enjoy those moments. For those of you with small children, enjoy them!! They truly are small for such a short period of time. Housework and laundry will always be there, but those sweet moments while your children are babies are over so quickly.

I am so proud of the little man Aaron is becoming. He has such integrity!! My prayer is that he grows up to be a man who loves and follows God in everything he does. Happy Birthday sweet Aaron...we are so very proud of you!!

My three little men: Josh (9), Aaron (8), and Jacob (3). By looking at this picture I bet you can you tell which one of my boys keeps me on my toes! :)

Budget Review--August Week 2

My goal for this month is to spend $40.00 a week on groceries. I am trying to cut our grocery budget back some, but STILL be able to stockpile groceries. It would be easy for me to go several weeks buying nothing except for fresh fruits/veggies, eggs, milk, bread because of the stockpile I have built up over the last few months. I want to be able to continue building up our stockpile and at the same time cut our grocery budget.

This week was a little different for me. My husband has been sick all week, so I wasn't able to go out and do much grocery shopping or deal hunting. We ate from our stockpile a lot this week, and I only spent money on a few essentials at Wal-Mart.

I bought: (Sorry, no picture this week...it seriously has been a crazy week. When someone is sick it seems to throw everything off at our house!)

Velveeta cheese (2 lbs.)
Dr. Thunder (12 pack)
Water (5 gallons)
Bananas (7)
Cantaloupe (1)
Kiwi (6)
Peaches (4)
Plums (5)
Apples (5)

I spent a total of $15.77...and I used zero coupons. I did save money on the produce because I price matched everything except for the bananas with the Lowe's ad.

Total so far for the month of August: $55.68

How are you guys doing?

New Coupon for Kellogg's Cereal

There's a great new coupon available for $1.50 off two boxes of Kellogg's Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, or Corn Pops. This is a pretty high value cereal coupon...most of the time you'll find coupons for $1.50 off THREE boxes or $1.00 off TWO, so $1.50 off of TWO is a GREAT deal! Go here to print this coupon.

Remember, to maximize your savings hold onto this coupon until you can find a sale to pair it with!!

Fourth Swag Code Available Now

The fourth Swag Code of the day is available here. You'll need to read through the post and follow the clues to find the hidden Swag Code. This Swag Code is worth 10 Swagbucks and expires at 5:00 CST, so you'll need to hurry to find it!

Search & Win

Swag Code Word Scramble

I was just checking my Facebook account and I noticed that there are two more letters available for the Swag Code Word Scramble. You should have received two letters here. There are also two letters in the message from Swagbucks on your toolbar that is titled "Did you get the first code?" (This is on the toolbar...look in the red square with the white envelope in it). The third set of letters that I've found are here...you'll need to read a few lines down the page and it will tell you that there are a couple letters for the Word Scramble. I've found 6 letters so far for the code...have you guys found any more that I'm mising?

Sign up for Swagbucks here!!

Check Your Mail!!

I went to check our mail this morning, and it looked like everything was junk mail...brochures, flyers, etc. I nearly threw everything in the trash, but decided to open up one of the brochures...I'm glad I did, because there were 4 coupons inside.

$1.00 off any Clean & Clear Product (will get FREE travel size face wash at Target and Wal-Mart)

$3.00 off Clean & Clear Morning Burst Surge Power Cleanser or refill pads

$1.00 off two packages of Goldfish crackers or Pepperidge Farm cookies or crackers

$1.00 off one bag of Tyson Frozen Breaded Chicken

All this to say, be sure to go through your mail today. You never know what coupons you might receive!!

Third Swag Code Out!

You'll need to hurry, because this Swag Code expires in just about 30 minutes. This one is just a bit trickier than the last two, but you should be able to get it in a couple of minutes. Go here and read down to the end of the post. It will ask you to answer a question for 9 Swagbucks.

I read the post and had no idea what the answer was, so I just searched for the answer through Swagbucks...found the answer right away, and I'm 9 Swagbucks closer to another Amazon gift card!! Good luck.

If you still haven't signed up for Swagbucks, go here to join and you'll be able to start winning bucks that you can trade in for gift cards and other great prizes!

CVS is supposed to have their Right Guard deodorant on sale Buy one Get one FREE starting on Sunday, August 15th. I need a little help here...what do you call things of deodorant...tubes, bottles? Help me out! :)

Second Swag Code--Already Expired

I was out of the house for the second Swagbucks code...found on the toolbar...it has already expired. :( Hope some of you were able to get it though. For those of you who were out of the house or away from the computer, you should still be able to look at the message and get the next two letters for the Swag Code Word Scramble worth 15 Swagbucks...I'm hoping that I'll be able to figure it out. We'll see. Let me know if/when you find the next Code!
I'm heading up to the church to sort through some things for Kids Church, so I won't be able to search for any new Swag Codes for at least a couple of hours. Remember, the blog gave some helpful hints as to where new codes will be found. If any of you find new codes you can leave a comment below letting others know where to look. Remember, you can NOT write out the code...just let them know where to go to search for it themselves!! Thanks so much and GOOD LUCK!!

Coupon for Cold Stone Creamery!! YEAH!!

How many days has it been over 100 degrees? It seems like it's been over 100 the whole month of August!! I LOVE hot weather, but I have to admit that the scorching weather is geting to me. :)

Luckily there's a GREAT coupon that might help us all cool off a little bit.

Coupons.com has a coupon for Coldstone Creamery...Two Like-it-Size Create Your Own Ice Creams for $5.00...might be just the thing for another hot day!!

Go here to print this coupon. (It should be found under the food category!)

First Swag Code--Worth 7 Swagbucks!!

Search & Win

I found the first Swag Code of the day...at least it is the first one that I've spotted. :) It's a super easy one...if you follow the step by step instructions you'll be able to get 7 Swagbucks in just a matter of seconds.

Go to the Swagbucks home page (here)
Scroll down the page and click on "Blog" on the left side of the screen.
Read through the blog and towards the bottom will be a code worth 7 Swagbucks!!
Copy the code and paste it into the "Enter Your Swag Code" box

7 Swagbucks as easy as that!!

Note...this Swag Code expires at 9:30 PDT.

Also, if you read through the blog it gives you hints on where the other codes will be posted throughout the day.

You'll also be given a chance to win 15 Swagbucks by putting together a code that they will be releasing bits and pieces of throughout the day...the first 2 letters that they are releasing are listed in the blog. Keep in mind that this code will be a word scramble, so just because it is released first does not mean that it will be the beginning of the code!

Coupon for Muir Glen product

I'm not sure how long this coupon has been available, but I just noticed it while looking for new coupons on coupons.com. There's a coupon available for $0.75 off any Muir Glen product. Muir Glen has great ORGANIC products...tomato sauce, tomato paste, pasta sauce, etc.

Wal-Mart has a small can of Muir Glen tomato paste priced at $0.97
-use coupon for $0.75 off one Muir Glen Product (found here)
Final Price: $0.22...A pretty good price for ORGANIC

New Coupon to Go With Albertsons Weekly Ad

There's a new coupon available that will go along with a sale that Albertsons is having this week.

Rice A Roni or Pasta Roni Side Dishes $1.00
-use coupon for $1.00 off three Rice A Roni or Pasta Roni side dishes (found here)
Final Price: $2.00 for 3 boxes (or $0.67 each)

That might not seem like a GREAT deal, but I have a hard time finding coupons for these products. I know they aren't the healthiest, but I like keeping several boxes in my pantry for days when I don't feel like doing a lot of cooking...definitely cheaper and healthier than running out for fast food on days when you don't feel like cooking!

Note...It looks like there is a print limit of one coupon per computer on this coupon!

Swag Code Extravaganza!!

Swagbucks is having a Swag Code Extravaganza today!! They will be giving out at least 5 codes that you can enter for EXTRA Swagbucks!! When Swagbucks posts codes, they are usually only valid for a short period of time...think an hour or two from the time they are posted. Some of these codes you will simply have to copy and paste the code directly into your "Gimme" box on the Swagbucks homepage, and other codes will take a few minutes of searching to find them. I will be in and out of the house today, but if I happen to see a code I'll let you know where to go so you can be rewarded too!! I LOVE SWAGBUCKS!!

For those of you who haven't signed up, they still have the special promotion going where you can earn 70 Swagbucks just for signing up...just use Promo code BackToSchool (no spaces, capital/lower case letters as shown). This code is valid until August 15th, so you only have a couple of days to be rewarded extra bucks for signing up. Remember that it is COMPLETELY FREE, and you will not be bombarded with junk email...I usually receive one email a month from them...their Swagbucks newsletter and it sometimes even has a special code in it worth extra Swagbucks!! This is a GREAT way to earn prizes/gift cards simply by searching the internet!

If you are interested in signing up, go here to get started or click on the banner below. Happy Swag Code Hunting today!!

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

I have a problem and want to know if it's just me or if someone else might feel the same way. I have a house FULL of food, but absolutely ZERO desire to cook. I don't know if it is because it's been so hot lately, but the idea of turning on the oven/stove to cook is not very appealing to me. We've had our fair share of cereal and sandwiches for supper...yes, I will admit to it. I pulled food out of the freezer last night to cook, but now that it is time for me to start preparing it I don't want to at all!! My boys would love another night of cereal and fruit salad, but I need to make something else.

On the menu for tonight:

Pork Tenderloin, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, and Rolls

The meat is thawed, the potatoes are ready to be peeled, and the corn is waiting to be boiled. Me on the other hand, I don't even want to step foot in the kitchen. What to do, what to do? :)

Do you ever have days like this, or is it just me?

HP Ink Deals at Target and Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart and Target are both running special gift card promotions when you buy any HP Combo Ink pack. Whether you need more ink because you are printing off more coupons, or for papers/reports that your children will probably be doing once school starts, printer ink can be pricey, so this looks like a pretty good deal!

Target:

All HP Combo-Pack Ink $31.49
AND you will receive a $10.00 gift card with purchase

Wal-Mart:

Any HP Combo Ink Pack $31.97
AND you will receive a $10.00 gift card with purchase.

(This is the first gift card deal that I have seen advertised in Wal-Mart's flyers. Wouldn't it be great if we started seeing more of these deals?)

At Target (and I am assuming at Wal-Mart as well) you will not be able to use your gift card to lower the cost of your first purchase, but if you want to stock up on ink and buy more than one, you can use your first $10.00 gift card to lower your out of pocket expenses on your second transaction and STILL receive another $10.00 gift card!

I'll be posting the Albertsons and HEB Ad Match Ups a little later this afternoon. I usually like to have them done on Wednesday mornings, but I have several other things I need to get done this morning...cleaning, laundry, looking over curriculum for Kids Church on Sunday, etc. I am also realizing that one week from today my two oldest boys will be going back to school. :( It will seem awful quiet in the house with only one boy. Are your kids ready for school to start? It seems like once my boys started school that the time just flies by...sure wish we could keep them little forever!!

Swagbucks Back to School Event

Okay, if you have been reading this blog for any amount of time, you should know that I LOVE Swagbucks!! It's a GREAT way to earn rewards (gift cards, merchandise, etc.) for searching on the Internet. (No, I don't do crazy searches, I just type in what website I am going to go to anyway into the Swagbucks search engine and get rewarded for doing it!!) With Swagbucks you have the chance to earn bucks every time you search for a site...and then you can trade in your bucks for prizes. My favorite prizes are gift cards...it only takes 450 Swagbucks to earn a $5.00 Amazon gift card...Think Christmas presents!!

When you sign up to join Swagbucks, you are usually given 30 Swagbucks just for signing up, but they have an AWESOME promotion going on right now where you can receive 70 Swagbucks for signing up!! All you need to do is sign up and enter promo code: BackToSchool (no spaces, and capital/lower case letters as shown) in the “Enter your Swag Code” box. You can go here to sign up and start searching, or you can click on the banner below!!

If you sign up now, you should be able to earn at least $25.00 in Amazon gift cards by Christmas if you choose to trade your bucks in that way. There are also gift cards for Target, Starbucks, Lowe's, etc...so many to choose from!! That might not sound like a whole lot, but it is FREE money. Enough for at least one gift on your Christmas list...and if you continue to save up next year, you should be able to knock several gifts off your Christmas list with FREE money!!

For those of you who are trying to stretch your budget, this is a GREAT way to do it!! I signed up about 7 months ago, and I am SO glad that I did!!

Coupon for Ziploc Bags

It seems like once school starts I go through Ziploc bags like crazy!! If you are like me, you might be interested in printing this coupon for $1.50 off two boxes of Ziploc bags found here.

Thanks Totally Target!

Coupon for Hot Pockets Sideshots

There's a GREAT new coupon available on Facebook for $1.00 off Hot Pockets Sideshots! Go here to print this coupon. The smaller packages of Hot Pockets go on sale for 3 for $5.00 quite regularly, so if you use this coupon you should be able to get a pretty good deal!
The expiration date on the coupon I printed isn't until 10/31, so plenty of time to wait for a sale!!

Another Target Find

Did you notice that select Dannon yogurt products are on sale 3 for $5.00 at Target this week? These same products are usually priced at $2.00 at Wal-Mart, so a pretty good deal. There are a couple of coupons available to make this deal even better though!

-coupon for $1.00 off Dannon Activia yogurt (found in 8/8 SmartSource insert)

-coupon for $1.00 off select Dannon Danimals yogurt products (found in 7/18 SmartSource insert)

With coupons, you should be able to buy a 4 pack of yogurt for around $0.67...a good deal on yogurt!!

You will need to check at Target to see exactly what products are included in this sale since the ad only lists Danimals 6 ct. and Activia 4 ct. After that it says other selected varieties are included. Don't forget about back to school lunches; it seems like now would be a GREAT time to stock up on some yogurt!

New Target Coupons

There are a lot of new coupons available at www.target.com. Some of these coupons are manufacturer's coupons, but there are also a lot of Target coupons.

Some of my favorite coupons that are now available are:

$1.00 off Quaker Breakfast Item (this is a Target coupon)
-you can combine this Target coupon with coupon for $0.75 off 2 Quaker Chewy Granola Bars (found in 7/25 RedPlum insert)
Quaker Chewy Granola Bars are on sale for $2.00 this week, so if you purchase two boxes and use two $1.00 Target coupons and one $0.75 off two coupon you'd pay $1.25 for two boxes, or about $0.63 each!

-you can also combine this Target coupon with coupon for $1.00 off 2 Quaker Cap'n Crunch Cereal (found in 5/16 RedPlum insert)
Select Quaker Cereals are on sale for 2 for $5.00 this week, so if you purchase two boxes and use two $1.00 Target coupons and one $1.00 off two coupon, you'd pay $2.00 for two boxes, or $1.00 each! Note...$1.00 is about the cheapest I've ever found Cap'n Crunch cereal, so if your family likes this cereal you might think about doing this deal!!

$0.50 off 20 pack Capri Sun Drink Pouches (This is a Target coupon)
I don't know of any GREAT deals on Capri Sun drinks right now, but with school right around the corner you'll probably be buying juice pouches anyway. At Sam's Club they have 40 pouches of Capri Sun priced at $7.48. I believe at Target 20 pouches are priced at $3.99...if you buy two and use two $0.50 coupons, you'll pay $6.98 for 40 pouches (or about $0.17 per pouch), a slightly better deal than at Sam's. With school starting in a few days, I wouldn't be surprised to see these go on sale!

There are also a lot of Market Pantry coupons available. Market Pantry is Target's store brand of products. You will find that these products go on sale quite a bit, so you might think about printing off some of these coupons and holding onto them until you find them on sale!

There are also several GREAT coupons for different clothing items. Target ALWAYS has clothing on clearance, so if you combine clearance finds with coupons you should be able to score some SWEET deals!! The coupons for Apparel tend to go very quickly, so if you are interested in these, I'd print them now!!

$3.00 off Merona footwear

$3.00 off Merona Men's Top

$2.00 off Kids' Denim Item
Target is also offering a deal this week where if you buy two pairs of boys' denim from Authentics Signature by Levi Strauss & Co. you will receive a $5.00 Target gift card. In the weekly ad it shows the jeans being priced at $14.00

$3.00 off Women's or Men's Denim

$2.00 off Women's Belt

$2.00 off Merona Women's Apparel Item

Go here to print any of these coupons! Keep in mind that there are a lot of other coupons available; I am only mentioning the ones that I think are the BEST!

Budget Review--August Week 1

My husband has been sick for the past week, so I haven't had a lot of time to hunt for deals and coupons. This picture is a few days overdue, but better late than never. I was able to stick to my new budget for August...$40.00 a week. I bought everything pictured below at HEB and Albertsons, and spent...

$39.91. I still have $0.09 left to splurge on whatever I want! :) I saved $126.75, and I still have a $10.00 catalina coupon from Albertsons to spend!

I bought:

HEB:

8 lbs. of Chicken Breasts
2 boxes of Popsicles
2 bags of Salad
2 bags of Knorr Pasta Side Dishes
2 packages of Rolls

Final Price: $18.56...Note, this is not a GREAT deal in my opinion. I generally try to buy Chicken Breasts when I can get them for between $1.50 and $1.97/lb. The chicken at HEB was $2.32/lb...with all the extras thrown in for free. I was down to only 1 lb. of chicken breast in my freezer, so I decided to go ahead and buy a couple of bags to tide us over until the next good sale.

Albertsons:

10 packages of Keebler sandwich crackers
13 packages of Snack Pack Pudding (4 packs)
2 boxes of Kellogg's Fruit Snacks
4 boxes of Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats
2 boxes of Pillsbury Cake Mix
4 boxes of Kellogg's PopTarts
4 cans of Dole Pineapples
4 boxes of Pillsbury Brownie Mix
4 containers of Hillshire Farm Deli Select Lunchmeat

Final Price: $21.35 AND I received a $10.00 catalina coupon

Some of you may be wondering how I feed my family of five on the food that I purchased for the week. I have been stockpiling food when I get it on sale for several months now. My pantry is stocked with grocery staples and my freezer is stocked with frozen veggies, meats, etc. Besides perishable items (milk, produce, eggs, bread) I don't really NEED to buy anything...so I focus on buying items that are at their ROCK BOTTOM prices. I might go several months without buying any meat, but this does not mean that my family does not eat meat...just that when I see it go on sale I stock up and buy enough to last my family until the next BIG sale. (As you can see from above, I misjudged the amount of chicken my family would eat and had to buy more before I expected to.) I still had plenty of milk and veggies in our house, so I didn't have to buy any this week...but you can expect a good portion of my budget next week to go to fresh produce!

I can't tell you how many people have told me that coupons just aren't worth their time...it takes too long to clip coupons and you'd be able to buy store brand products for less anyway. My answer to that is "Then you really aren't using coupons correctly." Coupons combined with sales equals BIG savings.

How are you guys doing with your budgets? Have you noticed a difference yet?
